So could I...

I still do not understand why you would want to have a the VZW Note 3 (which is actually my main device) at all?
But since you can switch a VZW to TMo...
Could you take a TMo Note 3 and use it on VZW?
If so, that is what I would want to do considering the bootloader, just like Frosty was saying, and the lack of a decent ROM! (hint hint to developers) :p

The VZW is the only one with the hardware, there was a lawsuit that singled out VZW so it doesn't work the other way. VZW is the only carrier choice for all the in-between areas tmo doesn't cover, it's huge.

if i may ask a general question here, i just got a verizon note 3 but i have tmobile service. I flashed the verizon hyperdrive rom, then went through the steps mentioned here to get service, as well as getting "servicemode" band 4 enabled, but i cannot get any service with my tmo sim card.

even on the stock rom, my tmo sim cannot be read by me verizon note 3, which is odd as I understand these come as factory unlocked. the verizon sim works just fine though.

do i either need to flash a tmo rom? or flash the tmo modem on top of Hyperdrive? any help would be greatly appreciated.

*#0011# shoes that the phone is IDLE BAND 4

thank you

That makes sense. I love the coverage of VZW but absolutely hate the boot loader. I hope soon someone figures out how to unlock it

Anyone with a VZW Note 3 running on T-Mobile:

Were you guys able to get mobile hotspot working? I'm using the stock hotspot app that came with it from Verizon, but when I connect my laptop to it... it won't access the internet.

Any ideas?

Read through this whole thread but I can't find what to add to get MMS to work. I just switched to T-Mobile today with my VZ Note 3 and hope I can get it working cause I really need it.

Anybody?

PS - Great post.

More bad news. I found some settings for MMS from a link I can't post but they don't seem to be working. Here are the settings I got:

Go to System settings, Connections, More networks, Mobile networks, Access Point Names. Here you will see the APN "T-Mobile US LTE" Click this and copy down all of the information. For the Note 3 it should say

Name - " T-Mobile US LTE "
APN - " fast.t-mobile.com "
Proxy - Not set
Port - Not set
Username - Not set
Password - Not set
Server - Not set
MMSC - " I'm not allowed to enter the url cause I don't have enough posts yet "
Multimedia message proxy - Not set
Multimedia message port - Not set
MCC - " 310 "
MNC - " 260 "
Authentication type - Not set
APN type - " default,mms,supl "
APN protocol - " IPv6 " <----------------This is what I changed
APN roaming protocol - " IPv4 " <--------This is what I changed
Turn APN on/off - " APN turned on " checked
Bearer - " Unspecified "
Mobile virtual network operator type - " None "
Mobile virtual network operator value - " Not set "

Here are my symptoms, repeatable every times, when I restart my phone:

Phone restarts, I can access the internet but I can't receive incoming calls. MMS messages come in but the attachments never download. I get alert sounds when a SMS or MMS message comes in and when downloading MMS attachment fails. Phone shows "no service" where I normally see T-Mobile.

I make a call out, the call goes through. Sounds on the phone suddenly become muted or very, very low (the SMS/MMS messages become muted). Phone shows T-Mobile service connected.

I call into the phone, call goes through and ringer rings at normal volume. MMS messages still won't download attachments but now audio is no longer muted/very low but has returned back to normal.

If anyone has any idea of what is going on I'd really appreciate the help. The phone is rooted and I have the VZW Band 4 LTE setting enabled.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, so I figured out the MMS issue I have been having (and verified that I can receive picture messages now). I changed the "APN protocol" from "IPv6" to "IPv4/IPv6" this morning and my picture messages are coming in to me. This is super important because I get email to text alerts from work for all sorts of fun things from server down to customer left vmail and if they are larger than 160 characters it was hit or miss on having it come through, so far this morning has proven to be 100% reliable receiving of these message (though I can't sent text to email address which I used to be able to do when I was on VZ but that may be a network issue). Also, in case you're wondering what the missing url in this field here is:

This still doesn't seem to resolve my issue of "no service" on restart until I make a call out first but at least it resolves my MMS issues

MMSC - " I'm not allowed to enter the url cause I don't have enough posts yet "
I'll try to add it in a way that might be translatable by anyone looking for it.

MMSC - "hyper text transfer protocol :// mms . msg . eng . t-mobile . com / mms / wapenc"

Obviously without the quotes.

Hope this helps a few people out.

@louspinuso thanks for the running commentary, good stuff to know. Maybe you should try to turn off the VZW band 4, tmo probably doesn't have that and it may be confusing to the modem software, as I understand it, that is a forced hack. Otherwise the best I can do is bid you good luck, I may never have the opportunity to divorce VZW but I can cheer those that have!

Once I put the new ssim card in it seems to automatically turn VZW band 4 on. As far as I can tell it's meant to work that way on T-Mo.

Though, I'm back to MMS not working all the time again *sigh*

OK, I think I finally fixed it. I changed the APN Protocol and APN Roaming Protocol both to IPv4 and then restarted my phone. And then I jumped in the shower. And when I got out I was receiving and sending picture messages like a champ.

Not to mention inbound calls were working and the phone showed T-Mobile for my provider and outbound calls work and, well, everything except sending a text message to an email address (though MMS from an email address to my phone works, so that's awesome). And my audio is not all messed up. I guess I just needed to let the damn phone register to the network itself and leave it alone.

Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else who's having problems with doing this. Thanks for listening to my rant and letting me post my step by step here.

2 questions --
Will blacklisted VZW Note 3 work on T-Mobile? Does "Global" setting make it work?
Does the procedure above work 100% with all T-Mobile data frequencies?

Thanks

Make sure the APN is set correctly. Also global is important. Does the T-Mobile simm work in another phone correctly? It could not be registered on their network right. And definitely reboot when you change the APN settings and wait for about ten minutes.

Good luck.

Good to know my phone can make the switch though I doubt I'll ever be in a tmo area.
Internet Protocol IPv4 is running out of numbers so enter the replacement IPv6. It will be a long time to switch and both will be in use. In the vzw apn they are listed together: IPv4,IPv6
