Good to know my phone can make the switch though I doubt I'll ever be in a tmo area.
Internet Protocol IPv4 is running out of numbers so enter the replacement IPv6. It will be a long time to switch and both will be in use. In the vzw apn they are listed together: IPv4,IPv6

SM-N900V DE
I'm currently on IPv4 as of now, but I do see that I could change to 4/6. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Voice & data has been great... This is a speed test from inside my house. Long Island NY

Well. somehow its working now :good::good:

What is the diff between the ipv4 and ipv6 protocol?
They are both address numbering schemes for internet protocol. IPv4 is the more familiar and common as that is the scheme that had been in use since IP was used to address machines. A few years ago (20) a new format for addressing machines connected to the internet was formed, IPv6. It has not gained much popularity yet (3% of connections to Google as of 2014 according to Wikipedia) and may or may not be implemented in your area. I'm sure that if it is, so is IPv4 as older phones that don't have support for IPv6 still need to be able to connect so it is the safer alternative. Let's not forget that even though it had been 20 years since it was proposed and initially implemented, Windows XP doesn't have native support for it (and maybe even vista, not sure) though it is starting to finally gain popularity. I, for one, would be willing to bet that I'll be on another device before IPv4 is no longer supported.

Maybe even another os at the rate it's going.

I am interested in possibly switching out my VZW Note 3 for T-Mobile Note 3.
I'm just wondering if anybody had successfully done this.
If an active VZW SIM were popped into a T-Mobile N3, would it work or would VZW disable data because of the IMEI or ESN. That leads me to wonder if changing the IMEI of the T-Mobile device would be of use.
This leads to whether EFS would need to be restored from the VZW N3 to the T-mobile N3.
Or, would a VZW kernel on the T-Mobile N3 suffice?
How about flashing the VZW Dev edition bootloader to the T-mobile N3?
IT SHOULD BE IDENTICAL HARDWARE. Some combination of software ought to do the trick.

I think someone mentioned that it would be blocked by vz network based on imei. Not sure how accurate that info is though.

It should be simple enough to change the IMEI to that of a VZW phone. Dunno if that and APN edits would be all that is needed.
Anybody know whether the T-Mobile Note3 had band13 support?

I just wanted to say that I tried the steps twice but I still didn't get lte signal. I'm on t-mobile $30 plan and using Verizon note 3. I only get hspa+. Other ppl in my area with t-mobile note 3 get lte. So Idk what's going on.

Yes because my coworker has t-mobile note 3, and he was getting lte while I was getting h+. I'm home now so I will report tomorrow when I go out.

I have the same issue with my wife's Moto X and my VZW note 3. She'll have 4g and I'll be on H or H+ right next to each other. I've figured out that even though the VZW note 3 is sim unlocked, it doesn't recieve all of the same gsm bands. I think it's missing 1700 which according to T-Mobile tech support, is a very heavily used band.
So to really take full advantage of their network you'd need to be on a true us gsm device.
I'm selling my note 3 probably next week and getting a Nexus 5 until something big comes along. I'll let you know if I see a difference

Fixed text issue

So I have read forums in XDA religiously and noticed recently the users who own a Note 3 (either DE or Retail) with Verizon and decided to switch to T-mobile had success ( as I did). However, a select few ran into issues with sending out text. Well I had the same issue as research for hours, even took my phone into the store so they can look at (they were stumped). As I was talking to them a thought came to mind, everything else on the phone work but the text, almost like a firewall was up. So I thanked them and went home, decided to install a different sms/mms application to test this theory, well it worked like a charm (using go sms). Now I can send and receive texts.

I hope this can help.

Such a pain in the ass man. It took a lot of testing but I have it working on stock mms now. Although with hangouts it's been flawless. If you would like me to share my apn settings let me know

So, the VZ Note 3 is factory unlocked ? and able to use with any GSM ? I am kinda confused since I asked in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51252226 and some users advised me to get the international version instead ?
The VZ Note 3 is unlocked for global use so yes, you can pop any SSIM in and use it if the network supports it. The problem is that data will not necessarily work, and neither will MMS.

I am experiencing the same issue.

I am connected to 4G LTE, but where it normally says "T-Mobile" (upon pulling down the top bar), I see "No Service". Obviously when this happens, I cannot send text messages. As suggested previously though, when I dial any number, it somehow connects me to the T-Mobile network. I'll have H/H+ for brief 5~10 seconds after I hang up, but I'll be connected until I restart my device and can actually send text messages using stock app.

Is there any way to configure my phone to automatically connect to T-Mobile network instead of me having to call a random number every time I restart my phone?

Will HSPA data work ? I dont care about LTE .. thought all modern phones support UMTS 1900/2100 or so
