HD Voice Enable

"On Sept. 15, Verizon Wireless began offering Advanced Calling 1.0 across its nationwide network on select smartphones. "

Does anyone know if we need this update to use this feature, HD Voice?

I read the article and signed up for the advanced calling 1.0 but I see no VOLTE CALL OPTION on the S5.

Did you reboot the phone after signing up. Also you must be on NHA for AC 1.0 to work. I am using it just fine.

So since I did reboot . I am wondering this. Did you see the VOLTE for s5 switch before you turned it on on the Verizon Web page? 2nd question... did you upgrade and do factory reset and reroot that way? I did the dirty update by Odin ne9 to remove root .. accepted the Ota .... then Odin ncg kernel... Root. . Odin nha kernal. But like I said there is no VOLTE switch in more networks area . I will back up. Factory reset and see if that will get it to show.

Many Thanks

You will need to do steps 1 and 2 from post 18 (the steps to gain root on NHA). This is what I did, and everything went through fine. After flashing stock NE9, I was able to update to NHA through OTA with no problem. I went ahead and completed the rest of the steps, and now am rooted on NHA.
Thanks so much I will try that when i get home. I didn't want to lose anything but thats life and reinstalling is part of life :good:lol

I'm running rooted NHA and cannot see the VoLTE switch either. I came from the previous version rooted and used the kernel swapping method.

EDIT: I added the Advanced Calling 1.0 for my device on the account, restarted the phone, and it the switch showed up. It's probably unrelated but I opened My Verizon Mobile and confirmed the feature was added on my device after I added it from the browser and then rebooted it.

Yes, it is necessary to add the Advaced Calling feature from Verizon web site to make it work.

Yes, you can only see the feature on your phone after adding the feature onto your VZW account.

Just wondering from those that are using this update, I know about the additions and what not but how is it in general? Theres always THAT update that comes out that ruins something about the phone.

Just waiting for new SlymHyde release.

I Odined back to NE9, then let the two OTA updates install, then rooted through the process described here. I have opted in to the HD Voice option on my account through the website, rebooted my phone a few times, but the option does not show on my phone. My phone says Custom on the first boot screen if that means anything. Any thoughts?

NVM - it appeared after another reboot. Must just take time to register on the phone.

Who is going to take it for us and test root :)
Process will be the same as here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55347753&postcount=19

Except for step 6 I will need to (or someone else can) export the NI2 kernel from OTA zip file and then we can flash back (for now we can flash NHA kernel and later NI2 kernel when we have it can be flashed on top).

If anyone can get me the OTA zip same as in this post I can pull and create the flashable NI2 kernel for you guys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55344587&postcount=8
