Hey guys,

I updated, placed the NCG kernel, used towel and then tried the shell:

D:\adb>adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ su
su
DIE: credentials different than expected
1|[email protected]:/ $ daemonsu
daemonsu
DIE: credentials different than expected

Anyone got this until now? I had to reboot after using towelroot so i can get root and get SuperSU to see the su binary and daemonsu binary :)

Just in case anyone has issues with SuperSU after using TowelRoot

I'm on the NCG build and have never updated. I initially used towelroot to root and it worked fine, but that's all I did. What should I do to update to the latest build and keep root/add any kind of restore method?

I had a problem before with the NE9 update failing via OTA previously.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/verizon-ota-update-fail-t2846766

It seems like when you try to update from Verizon upgrade assistant it doesn't fail at all when you have a currently rooted GS5 Verizon Phone. That solved it for NE9.

This time for the NHA update...I backed up using Kies3 and updated the firmware via Kies3 also. It gave me no fails despite it being rooted.

I also followed the Kernal switchings via odin accordingly to get root access.

One question though. Does the haptic feedback feel less intense when typing in text fields for anyone else? For me it does. Ive checked the vibration intensity and the slider was at max.

So, if I am still way back on NCG, rooted, no SS, and I unfreeze SDM (I've been holding out) it says it's going to take me straight to NI2. Can I take this OTA, then use the kernel swap method to regain root?

Please let me know, thanks...
Yes, long-story short, the idea is you do whatever you need to do to take the OTA (unroot, unfreeze, flash firmware, etc...) and then do the kernel swap to root and restore back. Quite simple really, just might be time consuming depending on how much you have to do to restore to stock before getting the OTAs to accept. Firmware flash is the quickest most guaranteed way however which is why I included it in my steps if you're not sure.

This OTA is failing for me. Stock. Non-rooted.

OTA downloads, launches and reboots the phone in recovery. Update gets about 5% in and then crashes.

Anyone know off-hand why this may happen? I had all of the VZW bloat disabled so I enabled it all and uninstalled the Google + update that was causing the vzwwavsvc (or whatever the name is) to crash. Same results on OTA.

Edit* Even did the App preference reset and factory reset.

FYI...Ended up doing the update through Kies and it worked without issue.

Ok, but

I'm just double checking that there shouldn't be any complications jumping that many versions via OTA. Also, would being rooted cause the OTA to fail? Please advise. Thanks again.

Im assuming NI2 is only OTA at the moment? I have a Verizon GS5, but I don't use a Verizon Sim. I'm not sure that has anything to do with it, but I keep getting this message "Service unavailable. Software update is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." When I check for updates via settings.

I flashed stock NHA before trying to get the OTA. Is there a tar of the of the update and not just the NI2 kernal floating around anywhere? Or is it only OTA at the moment as I mentioned earlier?

Since last night I been trying to download the NHA tar but it never matches the MD5. I even tried to download it on my phone the MD5 matches but when I transfer the file to my pc it doesn't. I finally was able to match it today but after trying to unzip the folder with winrar and 7zip I get this message. I tried to download the tar from Misterxtc and beans

Have you tried from here?

(G900VVRU1ANHA_G900VVZW1ANHA_VZW.zip)

Worked for me anyway.

I give up I been downloading the same file from both misterxtc and beans with the same results all day. When I download it to my phone the MD5 matches as soon I move it to my pc it gives me a different number or I get an error message when I try to unzip the file. Same thing happens when I download it from my pc

Has anybody installed the update and have the problem of every call coming in either as restricted or unavailable? It's driving me crazy. It didn't do this until I updated. I went to call Verizon but I was 1 min late from getting connected to a rep.

Have you tried an alternate browser or even a download manager?

PIT File

First off, if someone else sends me a copy of their PIT file for the Verizon S5, can I use that copy? I'm having a hard time getting the application to fetch the PIT file. If this is possible, could someone send me a copy of their PIT file or upload it here in the forums? Thanks in advance!
