I'm uploading the NHA tar to mediafire for you to try it from there. I've noticed for whatever reason a few people have the same problem you have when they download it from AFH but don't have a problem with Mediafire. I'll let you know when it's ready but Mediafire is slow with uploading so it will be about an hour.

Life saver

I just figured it out via the search but thanks, that's a but faster than the method I found. Here it is if anyone wants to try with the previous directions. Just use my file instead. This is for testing root so flash at your own risk untill it's confirmed rootable. I'm off to dinner now.

Not sure why but after i flash the NI2 kernel, my heartrate monitor will not work. the rest of the s-health app works. but heartrate light doesnt even come on. i do have wanam installed and i did make the edit to the build.prop file like you are supposed to. the app doesnt crash, the sensor just doesnt turn on.

I'll make a full firmware file when the offical tar comes out. Right now a few needed files are just patches and I would rather wait for the offical release to do that properly. I went back to NHA earlier today because NI2 was acting a little flaky when the screen times out and I'm listening to something off the internet.

well i just got it working. even though i went through all the steps before for s-health and xposed to get them to play nice. i disabled wanam in xposed, rebooted, cleared cache and data in both health services and s-health, started s-health and set it up and made sure hear rate monitor worked, turned wanam back on in xposed, rebooted phone. heart rate monitor works now.

So, if I am still way back on NCG, rooted, no SS, and I unfreeze SDM (I've been holding out) it says it's going to take me straight to NI2. Can I take this OTA, then use the kernel swap method to regain root?

Yes, long-story short, the idea is you do whatever you need to do to take the OTA (unroot, unfreeze, flash firmware, etc...) and then do the kernel swap to root and restore back. Quite simple really, just might be time consuming depending on how much you have to do to restore to stock before getting the OTAs to accept. Firmware flash is the quickest most guaranteed way however which is why I included it in my steps if you're not sure.

Any update on the NCG upgrade? I'm worried about borking my S5 without being able to totally back it up, and I don't want to lose the ability to root if I screen something else up. Maybe the only thing I'm not sure about is exactly what a kernel swap is, I don't think I'd heard that term before, is that when Odin is used?

If the bootloader is still able to downgrade what are they patching.. I'm still on NE9 from what I read sound like the ota is a little buggy.... Maybe they plan on giving us an unlocked device HAA!! ?

NI2 enables VoLTE and some other stuff. I'm on NI2 and love it.

Feeling stupid, do I just download this and rename the NI2 .zip with .tar.md5 ? Or is there an md5 file also posted here somewhere? I have the NCG kernel and Towelroot downloaded. I just got my wife a s5. Looks like a new learning curve since the s4 LOL

I had a strange thing happen after I rooted did all steps as guided as I was disabling Knox device froze an went into a bootloop so I did a battery pull powered back on everything fine went to app settings wiped supersu opened up the app disabled knox everything is good ? anybody had that happen? P.S No SS
