I updated the debloat file I uploaded because I missed a Knox app. Everything is running great on my end. Thanks for the work.
I am rooted on NCG, debloated and have Xposed for wifi tethering since I am unlimited data. What is the easiest way to upgrade to this and still have root? I don't want to use Safestrap.

Unfortunatley to upgrade to KK 4.4.4 NHA you will need to Odin back to stock NE9 and take the OTA update... here are the directions. You don't have to install SS but I highly recommend to so you can update SU and flash files if you want to... but that discussion should be taken to the SS thread.

Thanks, I figured I could just ODIN to NE9 and follow that thread, wanted to make sure. The only requirements I have are debloat and tether these days, but I am confused what you mean by update SU, can you not update SuperSU just rooted?

I could not get the OTA to stick, so i Odin back to NCG, accepted the OTA to NE9, then accepted OTA to NHA, then flashed NCG kernel in Odin, did towelroot, then flashed NHA kernel. Worked like a charm! Now rooted on NHA

@muniz_ri and @open1your1eyes0 I have the ota downloaded here if you want to take a look.... It's pretty big 346 mb. I haven't installed it yet. To anyone else, I would refrain from installing this if you value root. Wait until it's checked out to see if it's safe.

KitKat4.4.4 OTA

MD5: 1ad228f1c2871ddb8b881e4f576216b1

EDIT: This is confirmed safe.

@Misterxtc,

I've used the VZW OTA to successfully patch NE9 stock images on Linux. Now, I've all files equivalent to NHA stock images that haven't been released yet (which always takes a week or so). I'll use it to upgrade Note 3 users to 4.4.4 S5 port soon & I can create rooted odexed/deodexed bases for you on S5, if you wish. It'll be a safe & direct NHA upgrade, but I'll need testers since I don't have S5 device. Let me know if you're interested & willing to test.

Okay folks, you all are super lucky today as I decided to be impatient and personally test this out for you guys. Confirming the below method fully works for me.
  1. Make sure you are on stock unrooted NE9 build (if not flash this NE9 firmware in ODIN)
  2. Take the NHA (Android 4.4.4) OTA and confirm all is working
  3. Flash the NCG kernel in ODIN: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567722142
  4. Root using Towelroot: https://towelroot.com/
  5. Install/Open SuperSU and let it update the binary normally
  6. Flash the NHA kernel (I provided earlier) in ODIN: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712469066
  7. Reboot and you should be all set
Thanks open1your1eyes0. Worked.
FYI my phone has the open lock icon with "Custom".

If you can update the TowelRoot SU without SS then that's good. I wasn't sure if you could update it thru the Playstore or not, I haven't tried that since the first release of TR when it was having problems being updated.

Mine has that two. But I don't mind it, It is rooted. I've got the new NHA update and am rooted. I tried using safestrap to restore my extreme Syndicate rom. And it booted fine but in about phone it is just on 4.4.2. So I restored my NHA backup.

First post here, I just randomly decided to root my phone yesterday, researched and did it. It's all pretty easy it seems. Anyway nice site here, good place to start for beginners.

What are the added features/improvements with this update? Anyone have a changelog? I am trying to see if its worth updating and going through this process. I did not take last update either since I am rooted.

I have yet to see a changelog, but here's a few things I've noticed:

- Overall, the phone feels a little bit snappier.

- The fingerprint scanner works better.

- The camera app opens faster and is more responsive overall. They've also added an option in the settings to turn the shutter sound off (something that was removed from the Verizon version of the phone previously).

- Smart remote has been redesigned, and I'm not a fan.

- We now get free Basic Visual Voicemail. You'll be prompted to install it with a notification. I use Google Voice, so I didn't want it, but in order to get the notification to stop popping up, I had to go through the steps to install it. I then made sure Google Voice was still set up as my voicemail on the phone (which it was). One thing to keep in mind - when you install it, you automatically get a 30 free trial of Premium Visual Voicemail. I cancelled it from within the voicemail app to avoid Verizon possibly charging me for it after 30 days.

I'm sure there are other changes/additions, but those are what I've noticed so far.

EDIT: Nevermind. Rebooted and worked fine after that

After doing step 1 (twice), I've been stuck with gapps, google play and even gmail crashing constantly. I think it may have to do with apps that I had stopped, so trying to reset them and try again.

UPDATE: While the errors continue, the OTA update is downloading...
UPDATE: This isnt going flawless - each step of the way, I'm getting a ton of force closes. I did get the OTA installed, ran towelroot, but SUperSU failed, so rebooting. On reboot, SuperSU reported I was rooted.
UPDATE: After completing the steps, I am on 4.4.4 rooted. :)

As will SlymHyde, and possibly a name change. I know someone earlier mentioned providing system dumps, but I'll wait for the official tar. I'm not too keen on firmware packages based from dumps.. too many things can go wrong (I've learned the hard way on past devices).
