Not sure yet. There's a back and forth between T-Mobile and Nokia as to who will do what based on other 810 users reaching out to both companies for responses. We will see what happens...

I hope so too but I wouldn't put it past them. Especially since it was the step-child of the 820/822/810 mix.

if the 810 gets left in the cold- and i hope it doesn't, may act as a spur to developers to crack wp8 and develop custom roms. every cloud has a silver lining!

Mark, maybe it does, but it is starting to feel like it will share the fate of the Samsung Focus S.

Was the Focus s a good phone? It was one of the original wp7 devices wasn't it? I must admit I didn't pay much attention to Windows Phone devices when they first came out, was only when 7.5 came out that I started getting interested. I think the thing that put me off WP devices was the inability for the browser to play flash, which Android devices had built in back then, but don't now. Seems to be a general move away from flash now, HTML5 apparently being the way to go as regards playing videos. One of my favourite browsers from windows mobile days, Skyfire, no longer supports flash, concentrating on the newer coding. Apparently html 5 can play on even low cost phones.

The focus was an original WP release . The focus s is 2nd gen and is the dogs bollocks of wp7 devices. Hugely under rated because ATT had it on exclusive meaning the rest of the world missed out on what was probably an iphone4 / SG3 contender. Its super light, super strong, amazing screen and camera is wonderful. Don't confuse the focus s with the original device, bar the name they are nothing alike. Its also unlocked on all firmwares but doesn't have custom Roms, again this is probably because Samsung cocked up when they left it to ATT to punt it out to the public.

The demise of flash is long overdue, I give credit to MS for helping this shift :)

I've seen a few Focus S that completely developer unlocked and joy to use. I unfortunately got mine after the AT&T update that killed that option. Still, mark, dazza was right...the Focus was the best WP7 gen 1 device and the Focus S was top 3 for Gen 2. The problem was AT&T had 3 SGS2 variants at that time: the original SGS2, the LTE skyrocket, and the Focus S. That was confusing to consumers, so it never sold. Still, Mark, if you ever grabbed one, you'd put your Titan down for it.

Thanks to you both for the info. Wow, some phone, and I know Samsung have the rep for making the best screens of any manufacturer. Guess that's why the Galaxy outsells every other phone. I understand that the hd2 has a great reputation too amongst xda developers, being able to run Android and WP. Wish you could swap operating systems on all phones like that!

No prob mate, the hd2 is a legend I had one until it packed in, there will never be a device like it ever again, simply put we had a whole bunch of bored WM developers sitting on one device made by a company they have spent decades developing for. After the HD2 and the saturation of the market by android devices all those devs spread out, simply put there are too few in the know spread too thin, I believe much of that low level knowledge was kept away from newer users anyway :(

Just fired my xda Orbit 2 (Touch Cruise) up. It still had 40% left in the battery after 2 year's storage! What an awful browser Internet Explorer was back then, something like Opera Mini was always much better. One thing that was, and still is amazingly useful was the file explorer, which allowed you to copy, paste, delete etc most files, hugely useful. Modern file explorers for wp seem useless by comparison. Things have certainly improved a lot, using the stylus on the touch screen feels totally alien now.

My favorite old school WM phones were the Touch HD, Touch Diamond, and the Kaiser. HTC really made nice enough devices but it was the hackers that made the OS serviceable. I miss Manila and think that Sense has gotten out of hand.

Mark, got a question for you: have devices like the 820, 8X and 920 gotten cheaper enough for you to take a shot at WP8?

Hello trappxl. Sorry to tell you that I've jumped ship and gone back to Android . I got so tired with the reception issues with my Titan that I decided to get a new phone. Was looking at all the new offerings on various platforms when I descovered the phone I'm using now - a Runbo x5. Its a toughphone with a 4.3 inch screen running 4.0 ics. Been after a toughphone for a while, I think modern devices are just too flimsy - not this one! Has an ip67 rating, and is waterproof to 6 feet deep for 30 minutes!
So why go back to Android? Was more of a device choice than an os choice, Windows don't do a device like this, has a 3800 mah battery, good for 2 to 5 days on one charge, with no need for a case, but I still use a screen protector - my old Titan ones fit perfectly! Gotta say the 1gig dual core Mediatek CPU is faster than the 1.5 single core Qualcomm chip in my Titan no freezes yet after a couple of weeks use, which is a good job cuz the battery cover is held on with 6 screws! Yes, screws! Overall I'm very impressed with it, with no problems using Google services that I had on my Titan , but that was all down to the Google v Windows war of course.
If you like slim and sleek devices look elsewhere , the Runbo is a brick, about an inch thick, like my Titan was when I installed the Mugen extended battery . I believe the mtk chips are used in a lot of cheap phones from China- a fella I work with has what looks like a Galaxy s3, but it isn't , its a Chinese copy, but he loves it.

Mark, well I'm happy to see you've found something that works for you. I never hate on Android, as I still own and use often enough a Galaxy Nexus. I picked up a HTC 8X to go along with the 810 I have. I must say while more apps are pouring in for WP8, the biggest issue now is just managing the "other" storage. MSFT claims that the GDR2 update starts to address that, so we will see.
