People actually don't particularly like Apple's way of verification (Face ID) since it's just a response to what Samsung is doing, kinda sorta better but the issue is that they removed Touch ID altogether, which was incredibly silly, considering they could have placed the Touch ID system on the back of the phone and done as many others, yet keeping that Apple-esque style they like so much.
I find it much, much more convenient working with Touch ID (which I mean needed improvement, it can be REALLY finicky sometimes even when your hands are clean and dry, comparatively to Samsung's system not even reading your prints at all for some reason until you turn the screen off and on several times or unlock with a pin/pattern then retrying to 'wake it up')
Hell, I've had cheaper Android phones work almost 95% of the time, barring the accidental unlocks since those can get extremely sensitive to touch, locking for phone for hours or requiring you to sign in to fix the access problem, making it tedious.)
I hardly think they'll drop support of the fingerprint reader, but if they do, they better have some great replacement for it, since it's embedded in a LOT of apps nowadays, like banking apps, Google's Play Store, some email clients, etc.
