Walmart is selling the nooks in store for nearly the same price

In store only. nook hd 8gb is $129
nook hd + 16 gb $149

not sure on the others. i live in valparaiso indiana. in store only. i price matched mine with best buy. used a $20 reward zone card. $139.09 out the door. best buy called and verified stock and price. Walmart seems to have a ton of these

Here is the Slickdeals thread for the Walmart sales. The HD+ 32GB is higher, but the others are comparable. It depends on which is more hassle for you, trolling Walmart stores or getting a membership and trolling Nook CSRs.

Target is getting in on the act. Same sales price as Wally, starting June 9. Regardless of whether Nook is getting acquired by MS, it's pretty clear that all these aren't just normal sales, that B&N is indeed clearing out its Nook hardware.

Well, perhaps they finally found that they cannot fix the broken sdcard controller without a new hardware revision

My guess is they are bailing from the hardware business and trying another approach to remain part of the user content side of the industry.
