Ok, so here is my story. I was on 1.8.3 stock rooted 2.2.2, and used the "official" update zip in android recovery. Everything updated fine, but when I tried to flash the unlocker SBF, my phone give me the error SVF 105:1:2 Failed to Boot 1000. But I still retain fastboot, and my computer can still see my phone using fastboot. I'll try to flash boot.img and system.img from 2.3.4

Hey guys, can you recover from this hard brick? :|
Good luck everybody..

Thanks god i was messing up with my gf xperiax8 last night, and didnt killed mine!
If the moto logo screen does not show up and you can't get into rsd/fastboot, you are pretty screwed. From what I have read, you might be able to get into nvflash by plugging in the usb cable while it is shutoff. I am not sure how nvflash works though.

if you retain the fastboot, what you neetd to flash is the bl. the rest of the stuiff is find, 0x1000 is the adress for bl in memory

If you've never unlocked with pudding you are basically safe from harm but I dunno if that update.zip will flash (probably will). Again that statement is pure conjecture and you are responsible for your own actions.
So in theory, since I've never unlocked with pudding I could update then sbf back if need be?

while my method will *probably* not work
i have just returned from walmart with a soldering iron and some cheapo micro-usb chargers

i am going to start working on making a Factory Cable that will allow me to access the phone from a computer WITHOUT the battery.

if i can get this to work, we'll never have to worry about hard-bricking again, just obtaining factory cables :D

wish me luck
Already tried it. It got me a USB APX driver suitable for nvflash but without the SBK key (more encryption) you can't do anything. No RSD or fastboot mode.

I was looking specifically for the 4.1.8.3 system.img and boot.img but hopefully these will suffice. I am trying this out right now on the old Atrix at&t sent me. Have to send it back by Monday at the latest.
Here are ones that I have. These are from the 1.8.3 sbf. You can flash these directly with fastboot, do not have to change the .smg extension.

The stock recovery, just in case you need it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28723515/CG55.smg

The boot.img
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28723515/CG56.smg

The system.img
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28723515/CG57.smg

I think you know how to do fastboot, but for anyone else that wants to use these, here are the instructions.

-Download the files and copy/paste to the directory with fastboot.
-Using fastboot
moto-fastboot flash recovery CG55.smg
moto-fastboot flash boot CG56.smg
moto-fastboot flash system CG57.smg
moto-fastboot -w
moto-fastboot reboot

Should be good to go, but of course I am not responsible in the off-chance that this bricks your phone.

you got to apply the warning to yourself. anything you do you do knowing you could briock, and the only person responsible is you

i didn't unlock the bl..
since the error code 0X1000 mean something wrong about bl? i would like to try sbf,,,,, only if my 4591 crashed.

Just flash a boot.img and system.img with fastboot. It does the same thing as an sbf. Your phone just needs a boot and system image to run.
And where would one go to find these files. There is a firmware thread with a collection of sbfs. Can these files be extracted from there (i tried with 7zip, did not work).

You can do that with android depacker. You should know which cgs go to what partition before messing around with this. NFHimself has an awesome thread on how to do it.

I also posted them a couple threads back. Here:

Help with Moto-fastboot

So I bricked my phone. I still have fastboot. When I try to flash the recovery, boot, or system I get the following error in red text on the phone Failed to process command flash:boot error(0x180004) and the same thing in the command prompt. Anyone know what I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that means your BL is not unlocked. You have to unlock your bootloader in order to flash any img through fastboot. I'm in the same boat as you.

Also, if you unlock your bootloader, you'll lose warranty, so kinda stuck between a rock and a brick right now.

Crap I just unlocked my phone. It fully recovered it from the brick. Thank God. But No Warranty. It says unlocked in the upper left corner when booting up now. Any way to remove this?

I thought you were supposed to UNLOCK her before you flashed 2.3.4?

I did that same thing. All you have to do is unlock your phone using the fastboot oem unlock command. Use the directions in the Edible Pudding forum. Skip the Unlocker file part now.
