I see a lot of talk about the lack of waterproofing on the pixel phone but you have to consider the fact that it has a headphone jack mounted on the top of a big open hole that's all the water in is a huge factor in its lack of waterproofness.

Why not just add a port plug how waterproof would it become? And include the same for the USBC.

Would the pinhole for the sim, mic and the volume rocker power button be a factor?

Whether or not is has port plugs, there's more to waterproofing, mainly in the speaker area.

And from what I've read it is IP53 rated which means it can get wet, it just can't withstand water jets or submerging. My HTC 10 is IP53 and I've used it in heavy rain on multiple occasions. You just can't use it underwater to impress your friends.

Note 7/S7, and other phones I believe as well have IP68 rating with open speaker holes, headphones jack hole, charging port hole, mic holes.... it's not the hole that matters, it's what you put inside the hole that makes it waterproof.
