“We have taken steps to reduce costs and device exposure, while focusing our efforts to reverse the content sales decline,” continued Michael P. Huseby. “We remain committed to delivering world-class reading experiences to our customers through our reading centric e-Ink and color reading devices. The Company is actively engaged in discussions with several world-class hardware partners related to device development as well as content packaging and distribution. As a result, we plan to launch a new NOOK color device in early fiscal 2015.”

Hopefully the next iteration of the device will be shipped with google services preinstalled. It was the only thing missing from this device. Also, a (much) cleaner/stockish version of android.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with next. To be honest they had all but lost my business until they dropped the prices.

Sent from my Nook HD+ using xda app-developers app

Ooooh~

Well I just got my hands on a NookHD+ and then I see this.
I'm happy with this one though and really just hope that it keeps getting supported by Cyanogenmod for a bit longer.

Well, it will be a while before the new ones get released (if ever), a while longer before they come down in price, and even longer before cyanogenmod runs on them I guess, since I doubt they would arrive with anything resembling stock Android. In short, nothing wrong with going for a Nook HD+ now in my view.

Geez. You're right. That would be a very very long wait.
I too am happy with this HD+.

I'm actually happier with my HD+ than I am with my Droid 4 phone or my Droid Xyboard tablet running 4.1.2. I can run far more apps on the HD+ such as WatchABC, HBOGo and others that won't run on the Droids anymore. I am rooted but otherwise running stock and apps are far more accessible on the HD+. If B&N does offer a new tablet, I might get one to try but if it won't run the apps I want, I'll stick with what works.
