Hello members

First i'm really sorry for my poor english i'm french and it'is knowned that we are not....ok btw

I'm posting here our issue that we've encountered for some french customers on the Sony Xperia Z regarding the screen.

Some users have their screens broken without any shock or fall. This fails appears after they power on the screen or during uses and it's my case I 've seen the screen in live cracked after i unlock the screen !

The screen which has been broken is the underscreen ( not sure how it is called) The protective screen in on place. Any scratch or shock can be found on the phone. The numbers of case is growing but still no reaction from Sony France atm.

If you have encoutered the same problem , please post your pictures please.

Here are some picture of mine:

You're not the only one. I am researching this myself because I just had to recycle my phone after 4 weeks because it cracked for no apparent reason. I am seeing a lot of threads from equally confused Xperia Z owners. It is definitely a design flaw, but I seriously doubt Sony will ever admit to it - let alone do anything about it.

I think this caused by air pressure changes inside and outside the phone - if outside air pressure drops then air is forced out of the phone and it cracks the glass. For your benefit: Je pense que cela a causé par les changements de pression d'air à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur le téléphone - si la pression de l'air extérieur descend puis l'air est expulsé du téléphone et elle craque le verre.

Hi,

The phone is now on th market 3/4 months, I assume the screen can't endure more flexion or twist....As far as i know, problem is growing but Sony still ignore the flaw. It's hard to prove our sincerity to Sony atm.

I just came out from a center service ( french service) where the technician told me that he has saw many of same issues with the screen and he believe me...but Sony will never admit it ! What a shame !

I hope a great company as sony will handle quickly those claiming otherwise it could break the trust !

Yea, mine was too, for three months... until 2 days ago. Whole back cracked. Didn't fall to the ground, wasn't cruched in any way. It was sitting in my front pocket as always...

Huball, yours is very atypical, but this is a known and acknowledged issue.

If there is no other sign of dropping or excessive pressure you can send your phone in for warranty repairs through the regular channels (= the place where you bought it). Authorized service centers should have been informed about the issue quite a few weeks ago, and if your cracks fit the profile you'll get a new display or a new phone, covered by your warranty.

I can't guarantee anything but I've seen quite a few ones that got repaired in The Netherlands.

(Background: I do social media support for Sony Mobile in the Netherlands and handle issues like these)

I already sent it to service center. The lady i talked by the phone with said that all glass cracks are considered user fault and that it won't be repaired under warraty. Fortunetaly, replacement of back glass is not so expensive. 180PLN (about 40EUR).

No, there was nothing unusual with it.

Here is my production number 13W08 AAC ( 13W08----> means week 8 and year 2013
AAC--->>hardware revision... the last letter means rev C.

On the french forum we have alreadu started to share our serie production but it appears that no link can be established.

I assume it's more a quality default on some pcs which affect randomly users.

Hope Sony will handle as soon as possible those claims from their customer.

13w14 here. used it for 2 months now so far nothing.

I read a bunch of sites and some claimed that front and back are made out of dragontrail glass, some claimed front dragontrail and back gorilla 2.

I dont think it matters that much cause you guys are claiming the front is breaking. Thought dragontrail > gorilla.

Where can you see the date please? I searched in "about phone", on the back of the phone and on the packaging, but didn't found anything like this... (ps : not rooted)! :)
EDIT : found it! 13w10 nothing wrong for the moment (1 month and a half)
