i'm in the same boat as you guys. NO more internet on my n1.
Actually this works in favor of battery life, LOL.
I'm on $5 web2go. Been thinking of getting another phone VS paying $10 or $20 for an upgraded data plan.
Number wise is about a push. Orginally i was with a mytouch3g $20 plan and switch over my n1 at launch and used $5 data. That was 2 years ago.
Had i kept the mytouch it would of been $480 in data fees for 2 years. Nexus one was faster and better, cost me $500 and $120 in data charges for the past 2 years. It was well worth the phone upgrade.
The galaxy nexus works with tzones still. So in theory if i can get 2 years out, i would be near even again but i'm scared now. The the n1 blocking, oddly its only the n1. Guys with HD2, s710e have no issues. Galaxy nexus and nokia 710 work on tzones but still fresh phones.
if blocking N1 is a sign of anything, it is sign that T mobile will start blocking all Nexus uses cheap data plan.
as for why? well, there were tons of unbranded Nexus sold by google in U.S. and it has created enough issues on T mobile's earning/spending and T mobile is spending money to block internet access.
as for s710e, you do know T mobile branded s710e was in the black list since day one right? and do you know how difficult it is to obtain a AWS international edition s710e (or s715e) in U.S.? the few international s710e isn't big enough to cause issues and t mobile will just ignore it.
as for HD2, the cheap internet plan was actually released to support WM 6.0/6.5 (the OS HD2 came with). i honestly don't think they will block HD2 even though people are flashing andriod on HD2.
so my advise: go get a international version of sensation whatever (it is extremely difficult unless you do international travel), or stick with HD2, but avoid Nexus of anything if you want to keep using your 10 dollar plan.
