This depends on the cpu it has (is it tegra 2?), if so it should work, but beware about other partition positions. You probably need to adapt the "ubuntu.sh" script and possibly the init.rc in your boot.img's ramdisk. If it's not a tegra2 cpu but an omap4430 you will need to swap the gfx drivers and possibly a hell lot of dynamic library linking.

Sorry for noob question - its so hard to read full tread

Is there some possibility to install Chrome/Chromium browser on GenTop?

Thanks!
As of the latest try I did to compile chromium on an arm device it would fail from portage with the error of no arm target in the chromium makefile. For now the best thing to do is to use midori for browsing and html5 content and us ff for other more "advanced" tasks. If you however know how to configure chromium for compiling on arm, do it and than please share the makefile/configure.sh
:)

Sup gay,
There is a way to do that.
Under gentop as root in a terminal go to /sys and write "find -name lcd*webtop" than write "echo "1" > /path/to/filename" and it turns off to turn on echo 0

Hey gay,
running out of space? or maybe you moved something around? or made a symlink to something on your sdcard? Or did you just try running it as root (which should never be done)

1) After the reboot i used

adb shell
# tar xvzf /sdcard/GenTop2-portage-20120424.tar.bz2

but it gave me an error, am i using the correct command or i should use something else?
after adb shell put su and look for ask permission in phone

When my phone turns on and gets to the preparing sd, it takes forever. Does this happen to anyone else?
backup all informations in sdcard-ext.

Format your sdcard-ext.

In recovery create a partition of 4 GB in ext3 format.

after this install gentop2 following procedures of Gendol.

Restore your backup of sdcard-ext.

Use adb just like the main tarball.

Any way to change the time displayed in the desktop clock? It's 6 hours fast for me.
Set date in format mmddhhmmyyyy

I'm from Sao Paulo, Brazil, verify where you are?

in terminal with root make a synlink with command:
ln -sf /osh/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Sao_Paulo /etc/localtime

After this the clock diaplayed perfect.

I have space pretty much everywhere except osh:

And I get errors like this:

So is the solution to expand the size of osh or to somehow tell emerge to install somewhere else?

Concerning java, I just want something that can run jars. I found an android app that does remote mouse/keyboard on linux (to replace the webtop virtual touchpad for hdmi hack), but the server for it is a jar. Worst comes to worst, I'll just roll my own virtual touchpad in something other than java.
To free space in osh:

In phone open Root Explorer (Find in Market or Blackmart)

In root explorer go in osh/usr/lib

long click in python2.7 directory and mark MOVE

go back in /mnt/gentoo e paste

long click in python2.7 directory and make a synlink

go back to /osh/usr/lib and paste

repeat this process with other directory's for your convenience.

[].

Two things.

Anyone use this with nottachtrix?

And

Can someone post a 1-2minute video of this running (how much faster/smoother is it)

And

Is there an automated script for this install? (Seems easy enough to do myself but auto-installer things are so nice)

Tegra 2 linux drivers for h/w accelerated video playback

I use it with nottachtrix. Work smoothly. But I still can not get h/w accelerated video on it.

Does anyone tried http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/tegra.git;a=summary this overlay? It contains ebuilds for tegra x.org drivers?

Other question how to get any video player workable with OpenMAX IL on gentop?

The only solution I have found to get video playback in fullscreen with mplayer is to use next options

mplayer file.avi -vm -fs

But in such mode video has incorrect aspect ratio

Has anyone experienced loss of ADB capability after using the Gentop2? I think my adb used to be installed via the preinstall directory which is now gone...

Whenever I try to use adb shell it says my device is offline.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I had this issue, im not entirely sure what caused it but wiping data "resolved" the issue, at some point i figuered it was cuz i was mounting /osh/usr onto /dev/mmcblk1p3 with ubuntu.sh instead of doing it in the init.rc of the ramdisk, i really dont know why wiping data would help this but so it was for me

nah i mean a data wipe, which is pretty much contraproductive with gentop i believe :) maybe try a dalvik wipe and see if it works
