Latest kernel has problems with "Reading Mode" on OOS Beta. Screen gets black, even after reboot. Had to flash stock kernel to be able to deactivate reading mode again.
Sorry no log as I'm on the road.

New beta based on Hentai r154 is up!

Changelog since Stable r122:
- Merge latest CAF QCACLD tag - LA.UM.7.3.r1-07900-sdm845.0
- Merge sultan force push and ricing
- Fix panics by qcacld-3.0
- checkout ion to wahoo
- merge sultan's ion rewrite ( should feel faster/snappier )
- some ufs ricing from essential fon and wahoo
- camera memleak fix
- some moar ricing from random places tbh
- min freq for LP is now 1036 MHz ( boost removed )
- sched/fair ricing
- readded a ( should be ) safe cpuset commit
- new mdss commit of the old one that broke reading mode ( now fixed ) by kernel toast :)

Anykernel changes:
- Added back build.prop changes ( breaks screenshot preview but I prefer the performance and battery life gains )

Downloads:
- OOS
- Custom
- Omni

Should be the last RC before stable.

It's an experimental change, I'll most likely be dropping it. I just want to see the power consumption/performance on 518 with 1036 boost VS 1036 fixed. I like to give some choice anyways for things that don't affect anything crazy.

the only thing where i could imagine a bigger battery consumption from my side is if i play music screen off YouTube or poweramp aint needs 1036 either if im in good network circumstances.
same for the idle/sleep could be better on bad network (no or less cpu freq jump)that could save some juice , but could be useless in optimal circumstances
thanks for the fast answer let's see how it behaves XD
i had really good battery experience with the last release actually compared the ones before

On OOS as well.
hmm I'll see if I want to keep the changes. The performance and battery gains were massive for me. I started getting consistent 8-9+ hours of SoT again because of them. Can always remove them from the patch folder if you don't need them, zip will clean them automatically on reflash. Seems to happen on WhatsApp only.

@idkwhoiam322 Never noticed that screenshot previews were broken, to be honest. I've been using the build.prop tweaks for a while now, with your kernel, of course. Just goes to show that previews aren't as important as the gains that one gets using those prop values (placebo or not is open for debate, but for me, there was increase in snappiness). Good decision to add them back! :good:

debug.hwui.renderer=opengl
This line causes the weird interface issue & broken screenshot previews. I believe by default Android Pie uses SkiaGL and that is much better for me. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right but somehow performance has been better for me overall on opengl and UiBench jitter tests confirm it too.

- Silenced some more logging
- More sched backports
- Reverted some ( more than you'd think ) questionable sched changes

Why is opening settings so slow with the latest betas and the new stable? Even opening sub menus is relatively slower.
Probably this:
