Mine seems to be working just fine now. I guess somehow I ended up with two defective panels. Doesn't give me much confidence in the long term.
The panels are Samsung Amoled and I would assume that they are some of the best you can get. As long as the part is genuine. Sometimes stuff happens and you get a defect. I am sure there is a percentage of defective panels even with the best screens.Mine seems to be working just fine now. I guess somehow I ended up with two defective panels. They didn't wipe mine, fortunately.I got my screen fixed today, I didnt know I had to wipe it so now resetting everything up again but so far the screen seems good again
One thing about the iPhone is that you'll probably hate it in the short term but get to like it. But that's besides the point. Fact is you'll never run out of battery during the day. I mean like ever. The things are beautiful, display beyond incredible, dual sim support that you need, and expensive as hell. I've had really great luck with the P7 but I was tempted at one point. But a grand? Any trade in available for you? It really stinks when you need to depend on the phone and it's just not working right. Sorry to hear and good luck.So your screen went out again then? This will be my fourth screen - OG screen that went defective, second screen that seemed to be defective right away, third screen that uBreakiFix replaced under their own screen warranty for the second screen, and now I'm going to have to fight for a fourth screen. I was hoping to use this device for a trade in for the S23U but the screen doesn't seem like it's going to make it that long. *sigh* Do you know if Best Buy usually has unlocked phone deals with Samsung launches like they did with the Pixel?
The thing that really sucks is that I rely on dual SIM and my primary service I already converted to eSIM so switching to my OnePlus 9 for a couple weeks while waiting for the S23U will mean I'll be stuck with just a single SIM. This is a major headache.
I had the iPhone 8 Plus, XS Max, and 12 Pro Max. There are so many limitations but you are correct about the battery (although I can get 6-8 hours of screen on time out of this thing pretty easily unless I'm heavily using mobile data, which doesn't happen often). I wouldn't be able to get anything for my Pixel because Apple doesn't accept them as trade ins and won't until the iPhone 15 series. Obviously I wouldn't feel right trying to sell my problem to someone else either. One thing about the iPhone is that you'll probably hate it in the short term but get to like it. Why don't you ask for a replacement device from Google. You have tried to repair it several times and you keep having issues so it might be an internal problem. So your screen went out again then? I was more thinking via your carrier trade-in policy. I'm on VZ and I just checked and you could get close to $400 for that (almost) brick. But I know you're not on VZ so ymmv. Aside from your trials and tribs with this device, I once had Google Fi for a NY minute (like maybe a year) and it had switching via Sprint and TM. It just never worked right. That was a while ago so maybe Dish has improved the switching technology. Have you tried it with a test device or with any device yet? They do state that it will work with iPhones and Samsung but no mention of the Pixel line.I had the iPhone 8 Plus, XS Max, and 12 Pro Max. I'll see if the S23U has what I need and go from there. If the Pixel dies before that, I may begrudgingly get an iPhone 14 Pro Max. I'm also not sure if the 14 series will be able to do Boost Infinite's dynamic network switching between Dish, AT&T, and T-Mobile either though and I'm really wanting to experience that.
I bought my device at Best Buy so it's a miracle Google even has approved repairs thus far. They're well known for doing zilch if you didn't buy it from the Google Store. Why don't you ask for a replacement device from Google. I would ask Google to replace the device. That way you will get something completely new. Hopefully that would solve your issue for good. Sometimes a device is just defective?
Might be something to try before you get rid of it. If you have problems with a replacement then I would ask for a refund.
Just a thought. I hope everything works out and am sorry for all of your troubles.
Well none of my providers offer device financing except for Boost Infinite and Boost Infinite doesn't currently have a trade in option. I was thinking I might wait to see what kind of offer they have for the S23U since they'll undoubtedly be adding it but I'm waiting to see what Samsung offers directly and if Best Buy offers anything so I can just trade in and walk out that day.I was more thinking via your carrier trade-in policy. Even on the P7 I'm also getting at least 6 hours SOT but the battery will barely make it to the end of the day. My kids make fun of me carrying around a cable since they never have to do that with their iPhone 12s. And they're over 2 years old too. But I'm so darn invested in Google at the moment with TV, smart home devices and everything that goes with G Home so I'm out of luck even if I did want to spend a grand. I'm basically just throwing out some food for thought on a sub zero Saturday here. But after my P6 and 6a, I hated both of them, my P7 is finally humming along. If this didn't work out I'd be looking for a second mortgage to pick up the 14 at the carrier. Keep us posted, specifically about BI too, this is a fascinating thread.
It shouldn't matter where you bought it. It is a warranty replacement issue. I don't know where you live but in certain countries and states there are lemon laws. Your device is defective after numerous attempts to fix it. At this point they should replace the entire device under warranty.I bought my device at Best Buy so it's a miracle Google even has approved repairs thus far. I have the money... I technically didn't pay anything for the Pixel 7 Pro (preordering at Best Buy and trading in my 12 Pro Max that I hated and hadn't used in over 7 months ended up putting extra money in my pocket) and I was planning to buy a new phone last year or this year anyway so it's not the end of the world, just very disappointing.
As for Dish... They removed the iPhones from the Boost Infinite site the other day. I don't know if that's a sign or not but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the network switching just isn't something Apple wants to cooperate with right now.
I do find it interesting that this is the first defective phone I've had since the UTStarcom PPC-6700 I got in 2006 that had a defective SD card reader. I've had some HTCs with varying degrees of poor quality LCDs (yellow tints - I remember going to the Sprint store and having them open up like 4 Evo 4Gs before we found a white screen) but those were a case of different suppliers, not actual issues. This thread makes me doubt I'll be getting another Pixel. Still, saying that (touch wood) I've not had any issues so far.
Yeah we will see. I gotta wait for it to act up more than it currently is though. Some random brightening and dimming is unlikely to be a big deal to them.It shouldn't matter where you bought it. I would try to get a replacement. You have nothing to lose.
Mr. Broken Record chiming in here but hold them to the fire on this one. Google makes entirely too much revenue to be as ludicrous as they have become with replacing their own lemons. 2 repairs more than warrants a replacement. It took some doing, but I got a replacement without getting a repair because it's unacceptable on a phone this new with no user damage. Literally just keep opening cases with reps. The right one will eventually replace it. Takes a lot of time and energy, but if a company can't be accountable to it's consumers with manufacturer defects, then they don't deserve your money next go 'round. I'll get off my soap box now haha. I believe you can get a new one though and I wouldn't let them get away with not making this right. Your carrier didn't make the phone, they did and something is clearly wrong with yours. It's on them.Yeah we will see. I gotta wait for it to act up more than it currently is though. Who knows what manufacturer Google is using. Pixels definitely have higher than normal reports of issues relative to other phones. When I went to uBreakiFix the girl who helped me actually said they have more problems with Pixels than other devices.
Yeah I'm just not really wanting to put in the effort. I don't have the patience I used to. Would just be easier to write off any future Pixel purchases, which I was planning to do as long as they use Samsung modems anyway.Mr. Broken Record chiming in here but hold them to the fire on this one. I completely understand that. I just hate it for you and know how frustrating it can be. It's better priced than a lot of flagships, but certainly not a cheap device. Then you had to cover the cost of transportation on 2 separate occasions when they should have just made it right. I hope your screen decides to start behaving or they go back to Qualcomm next gen (they won't haha). Best of luck with it!Yeah I'm just not really wanting to put in the effort. I really like pixel's software, but they have to fix this hardware **** if they want to be taken seriously. Between this and the camera glass shattering, I hope they sort out the pixel 8 and we don't have to deal with this **** again. My screen did the same damn thing. The edge started flickering and then showing lines and then things went green.
I got mine from Amazon, and I *****ed enough that they sent me an advance replacement for it. It seems like this is an ongoing issue with the p7p series.
Maybe another class action should be underway...
