I'm not sure what the end result of this reorganization will, but it certainly seems to me that there should be a general S III forum where most issues are discussed - and then sub-forums for each carrier for discussions specific to that device only. The end?

I honestly find it kind of annoying that I have to watch so many forums for my device:

GS 3 general
GS 3 Q & A
GS 3 USA general
GS 3 USA Q & A
GS 3 AT&T development

Thanks either way for all the hard work of devs, contributors, xda staff, etc.

I would suggest to put any Rogers, Bell, Telus or Sasktel threads with AT&T as they are all on the same i747 variant, unless of course there is another home planned for them.

I'll keep that in mind

Or we can ***** and complain and inundate the Mods with PMs about how unhappy we are and constantly open threads about how the forums should be combined. The same way these tactics were used to implement this change...

Actually yalls constant bitching, wasn't the main reason why this split has occurred. The mods of the S3 sections did ask bout it constantly. Although NATF might say otherwise

Hmmm I started the Screenshot thread in themes for Sprint but it got merged to all carriers so I dont know If I should rename it lol
Please do

Personally, I'm excited due to the amount of questions and general talk about a certain carrier. Now I can look through all of the Sprint threads without going through 7 pages of Tmobile, AT&T, and Verizon irrelevance.

The merge was initially done because we had high hopes that everyone would play in the sandbox nicely. Sadly this did not happen to the level we hoped for, although do not misunderstand, there was a lot of carrier-independent collaboration going on. It also ended up being a nightmare to keep clean and [relatively] free of clutter due to threads not being labeled correctly.

The Accessories sections have been merged with the International section, so clicking those links will take you to a one stop shop for advice on what to buy for your newest toy. Of course the Development and Original Development sections will continue as well.

Let's make the best of this situation. With some help from everyone, we can get everything sorted in a day or two. In the meantime, new threads should NOT be created in this section. It just increases our workload.

So how's this going to work for all the General or QA stuff that applies to multiple carriers (ie the whole IMEI issue affecting AT&T and Tmobile phones)?
I didn't see this answered yet.

Where will the generic non-carrier-specific threads go? Into the international S3 forum?

e.g.: I had a "[Poll] White VS Blue" poll thread in general with almost 1000 votes. That doesn't belong to any one carrier (even though there is an option for Red, that's AT&T exclusive).

In any case, as long there's a generic forum, I'm fine with the forums being split again, but I will *sniff* miss *sniff* some of you guys. :crying: ... :)

Back when I had my Inspire, we figured out that themes and such such from the Desire HD worked fine on that device. Somehow people managed to find what they were looking for without those forums being merged.

Thanks Mods. I'm sure once the dust settles everything will be cool and groovy.

US Cellular?

I know the phone's only been available on US Cellular for 2 weeks, but there is development going on.

I appreciate the hard work the Mods are doing, and know it's a real PIA when everybody chimes with their own opinion. Then again, all the *real* development for Android happens on XDA, and if the US Cellular SG III doesn't have a 'home' here, it's gonna slow development that much more.

Not to mention the noob's using ROMs, etc. from the wrong variant thread and spamming the AT&T, etc. devs w/ questions about the US Cellular variant. Regardless if there is a sub-forum for US Cellular, you *know* this is where people are going to go looking for info.

SOO . . if the US Cellular folks aren't a large enough number to usually qualify for our own sub-forum, you might consider adding one anyway for the sanity of all the other SG III groups.

Just a thought . . .

I really hope all general/generic discussion is in one forum...and anything in the AT&T forum, for example, should require AT&T in the thread title.

I suppose we could do a subsection of the Verizon forum for US Cellular.

Maybe the links for accessories/themes should all link to one forum instead of each carrier having one?
They are linked to International. Clicking on either of them will take you there.

This was our goal, but it didn't work out as intended.

That would be a good idea. I know that there are some differences between the two, but frankly I think most of us are smart enough to deal with that.

Just having a 'landing place' for the US Cellular discussion would avoid some pain both for us that use it and those that want to keep their own discussions on-topic.

Thanks for considering this - I can't imagine trying to sort this all out, and the GS III has only been available for a few weeks. It would have been a nightmare to deal with this a couple months down the road.

So kudos for thinking ahead! :good:

Right on, man. I know you mods do a lot of extra work for free as it is so I'm not going to actually employ these tactics, nor do I think its worth the effort to do so. In the end, either way the forums are set up I'm still going to be able to find what I need and do what I want (now it sounds like more work for me but less work for the mods which I can appreciate). I just thought it was funny how there were always threads started in the general section that opened with "I pm'd a mod about splitting the forums..."
