For all of you that say HTC is so great, Let me tell you.. I was once a huge LG fan back in the G3 days and V10(Which went knowwhere) and then I said I would never touch another LG again, So I went HTC10,
was great at first, a bit pricey for the money, But to make a long story short. all HTC's battery suck.. your device will die within 1 year. but you will notice the issue way before, like 6 months to less..

when it happen to me, I thought maybe it was just me, then after me, other friends of mine, started having issues, and then friends of theirs had issues, and coming from a Developer on HTC10,
I can tell you, the scene sucks. the users can be rude, even know that is everywhere.. but cant explain unless your a dev, and even know you can s/off which will cost you 25.00, no biggie, lets you rebrand your device too... and unlock your bootloaders, but as for scene, Its not really there.. a few roms and a few things, but nothing big.. I created PureFusionOS originally on a HTC10, and I created Nebula Kernel Originally on a LG G3,
then Ported the first EAS Kernel to HTC10 on MM then N and not on Oreo......... So, dev friendly as it is, it has its draw backs.. I personally wont get another HTC do to the crappy batteries..

If none believe me, click on the Telegram group on my sig and ask in there.. you will see for your self.......

as for the oods of getting root, anything is possible.. look at the v30.. look at the g6 and v20 and so on, Most didnt think that would happen... its a challenge.. I wouldnt say you would get it soon,
but sooner or later.. if you truly want software and dont care about hardware, get OP6........................... But if you want a device that can outperform most others, Samsung,LG and Google.............
yeah sony too.. just not a fan of Sony.............
I disagree. I've gotten 9 hours sot on my HTC 11 and its a year old. best battery I've ever had.

I did the B1/G1 T-Mobile thing hoping that LG was better than my S7e wound up being... I haven't been able to root since my old S4. This is my first LG and I do like it so far (though I can tell that it's not an OLED and sometimes that bothers me). Overall though really quite nice.

I sure hope we can get root again. There are a few minor quirks that I would love to see worked out (plus adblock is awesome).

Quick question - how are you guys transferring contents from your old phone to the G7? The usb socket on my N6 is shot so looking at a wifi/bluetooth solution. Was thinking about using LG's app but the reviews are terrible unlike Samsung. TIA.

I'm guessing I should post this here.
I think our chances for root is high if we're able to use treble as John Wu can add root to any images so we can install Magisk. Hopefully it's possible. I'm pretty much out of the loop recently because I was spoiled with my Nexus 6P.
Hopefully it works even with a locked bootloader.

Had a pixel XL 2 and it all was backed up and restored it on here. Everything transferred even all my log ins amd passwords. But pretty sure there is a transfer tool installed on the phone by default too

i got mine today , and i noticed lg are pricks , you can unlock the bootloader but they still use avb (android verfied boot) then and to disable that you need to flash a new vbmeta.img and you cant flash vbmeta in fastboot , so next try extract kdz for getting boot.img make a quick twrp and flash vbmeta in recovery then. NOPE lg changed something in KDZ you can extract it with the existing tools anymore so there is no chance of getting twrp rn and so no root and no gsi since they wont work on avb enabled

LG went from dev friendly to Samsung levels of unfriendly or worse over the last 2 years. So sad. OnePlus is the only semi-decent alternative to this wonderful G7. Oh well. I'll stick with my G3 until it dies.

Have you had anything that's been modified flash yet? Kdz's were supposed to be hash verified and encrypted so they wouldn't flash at all if modified

I know absolutely nothing about anything but is there any chance uppercut could be used, I think it aids in flashing modified kdz's but I also only think it supports up to the v20 again not sure but I thought I'd throw something out there
