Question What do you loose if you root or flash a galaxy z fold, is Knox still an issue like before?

6Rooting doesn't make any sense anymore. on the contrary it brings so many issues especially regarding banking and password managing applications.
I was a flashcoholic during the good old days, and rooting a phone was the first thing I did when I purchased any phone. but that was because of the software limitations and the mostly not up-to-date Android on the phones I bought. Add to that I didn't have bank apps back then.
Now Samsung has almost the best software update policy, you can buy the phone today and have OS updates for the next four years, add to that the maturity the software and the UI have reached. Tweaks are barely needed and if so, there is the Good Lock app which has many useful additions and customization.3
All what you are saying is conflicting with the root idea, of companies trying to collect as much money as possible from the user. and still not giving them the freedom to do what they want to do.> if you want to have your phone bloated with unused apps
storage space is not a problem on a 128GB or higher phone. I can disable or ignore apps I dont use. this is a non issue on unrooted devices

Again perhaps the paid for nordVPN is the morally responsible way to use their service without ads.

nothing is remotely wrong with quality of sound on my phone and i mainly stream to headphones or soundbar over BT.
So that's another non issue irrelevant to 99.9% of smartphone owners who have not rooted.

How much % increase SOT do you get? If its 5-10% its not not worth rooting for. If 50% or 100% SOT increase you win the point this time.

(Response from another post). if you flash magisk via patched boot image. you can get the OTA without bricking the phone. while keeping the root. the only downside is that your phone will download the full frimware again 5Gbs+ rather than downloading a 200MB update. which doesn't matter. and magisk will patch the new frimware boot image for you. before restarting. without the need of a computer at all.
Compromise and extra work and increased data usage. Most definitely not acceptable reason to root for me thank you

Can ALL apps that dont work with rooted or knox tripped devices be made to work 100% again? Secure Folder, Samsung Pay, Banking Apps, etc.
Seems to me we can just agree that anyone who wants to root their device can do this if they know & accept all the pros and cons.
Anyone who doesnt need the "benefit" of a rooted phone or decides the risk and compromise are too great does not.
I know which side me and 75% of XDA F4 owners are on lol.
I am someone who owns gaming PCs / Amazon Firesticks powered TVs with Sony 5.1 soundbars. Apple Macbooks / iPad/ Airpods pro, Couple of Razer/ Logitech Gaming accessories. trust me all these things won't work together as good as having the freedom of Jailbraiking the apple devices/ and rooting the android phones. and I know what I am saying.
Plus you won't understand the importance of Viper4Android sound tuning until you try it and probably trying my settings. I can share it with you if you decided to root in the future, which I know you won't.
Xda Is mainly based on customizing things and staying far from OTA and what companies forces us to do and not to do.
In Regards of Ads, I am talking of system wide Adblocking. not only youtube. the stupid videos that appears on your phone and you have to wait for probably 60 seconds to skip them otherwise you won't be able to use the app that includes them. and Adaway is not comparable to others like non root solutions like adguard
Plus modifying your phone to your own personal preference is such a joy, people who are very practical won't be a big fan of it.
Rooting is for power users. people who use their things very heavily. not for people who uses their phones for social media/making phone calls/ taking notes.
There is no apps that refuse working with root, And I know what I am saying.
Rooting is made because of companies cutting your OTA Updates after a couple of years, and your phone is still in a mint condition. and still can support higher version of Android. but the companies wants you to buy the latest version of their products. so they will stop giving you OTAs. for example my Oneplus now stopped at android 12. even though this thing with a Derpfest rom is faster than your Galaxy fold 4. with only 8GBs of Ram. and I know what. I am saying.
Rooting gives you full function to get a google Camera ports on your phone for professional photographers who like to their phone photography to the next level. you don't want to use google camera because Samsung camera are so good? no problem have both. better than sticking only to Samsung camera app.
So many things If I keep writing we won't end this conversation.3Yeah, AFAIK it blows the knox fuse, so anything with personal data from Samsung stops working. That includes pay, wear, health, sec folder etc. Also Google stuff becomes a pain. Probably work around for that, but honestly, doesn't give you anything, and just causes issue, so don't bother3
Totally agree. Rooting a phone in 2022 is as useful as buying a house with an outside toilet. Not many want this feature in their life.3
#MeToo. I am a recovering root-a-holic from late 2000s to mid 2010s but rooting a samsung in the 2020s is more trouble than benefit for anyone who is not an active XDA custom rom dev.
