I'm building a non android boot image for the Kindle Fire HD 7. Sailfish OS porting has been attempted before not only by me, but by someone else before. I picked the project back up and again, tablet goes straight to fastboot, couldn't boot the supplied boot image at all.
I noticed that the Kindle Fire HD uses a different boot image format than most other android devices. Upon running "file (kfhd bootimage)" in terminal, it shows that it's a FoxPro FPT image, and researching this I can see it is a proprietary format with an appended dtb file. I attempted to yoink a dtb from another boot image to append to my hybris boot image but had no luck.
I know there are devs lurking, and one person who booted linux on this long ago. Any ideas? The hybris boot script just generates a typical android boot image, but this doesn't work on this tablet.
