What happens to root/TWRP when you upgrade a rooted LG H91810j to H91810k or H91810p?

Has anyone tried upgrading a rooted LG H91810j to H91810p? Did you still have root afterward? What about TWRP? I am concerned about losing root and losing the ability to roll back because of their "anti-rollback" mechanism in 10p.

Optional back story, for the curious:

I bought a refurbished LG V20 that was running software version H91810k out of the box. I immediately tried to root it with dirtycow, but dirtycow does not work on 10k. So I downgraded to 10j from 10k using LGUP, and then successfully rooted the phone with dirtycow. I then installed TWRP and then LineageOS.

Unfortunately, I just don't feel like LineageOS is where it needs to be for me on the V20. I lost a number of features, such as (1) the second display, (2) ability to use BOTH cameras on the rear, (3) quad hi-fi DAC for superior audio, (4) automatic wake/sleep when opening and closing my phone case, (5) encryption (!!!!).

I feel like there are just to many things missing, so I think I want to go back to the stock ROM, but I would like to stay rooted so I can at least get rid of the bloatware. Is this possible or am I going to lose root and TWRP via one of LG's updates?

You can keep root on stock rom but flash one thats 10k if you flash one that's 10p and you wouldn't be able to back to anything pass
10p. Weta has a 10k version look in there thread for details and instructions

I understand not being able to rollback/downgrade after hitting 10p, but let's just say I decided to upgrade to 10p+ anyway. Would I still have root and twrp?

Yea once you're rooted and flash a custom rom I'm on alpha rom
Right, but I'm talking about being rooted without a custom ROM, i.e. running the stock ROM while rooted and having TWRP. Can I upgrade to 10p and beyond, and at least keep root/twrp, even if I can't roll back or install anything else?

What firmware are you no right now

1)Get 10i root it install twrp
2) there's a flashable 10r somewhere don't have the link right now put download and flash via twrp 10r is the newest update I believe.

Technically I'm running LineageOS (14.1-20171226-NIGHTLY-h918) but I want to go back to stock rom WITH root/twrp, because I lost a lot of features like second display, dual-rear-camera, quad hi-fi DAC, encryption (etc). I just don't think LineageOS is ready for this particular phone, for me. I am planning to revert to stock rom H91810j (re-root if necessary) and then upgrade to the latest stock rom, if I won't lose root that is.

Just saw your edit. So it sounds like the best way to upgrade is to flash it via TWRP rather than install it via the OTA updates? Can you (or anyone else) confirm it stays rooted when done this way?

I have been rocking 10k just fine. There is support for a custom stock kernel. Personally, upgrading to 10r is not worth the risk, especially since there is nothing really new besides sercurity patches.

Well, I ended up flashing H91810r as per this thread and I am happy to confirm I still have root. Just thought I would post this for anyone wondering the same thing. Now I just have to remember to only update by flashing via TWRP, moving forward.
