I have a question. What is the actual clock speed of the G4 CPU, specifically the Verizon VS986 as I remember reading the specs and they all say 1.8Ghz but it seems it's 1.4Ghz from looking at the phone and using SetCPU.
Apps like kernel adiutor and synapse are capable of proper control of little.big architecture...setcpu sadly after i paid for it years ago stopped receiving updatesThe two A57 cores are clocked at 1.8, while the 4 A53 cores are clocked at 1.4.
I think because setcpu is probably not updated to deal with the LITTLE.big architecture.
I like the look of the SetCPU widget as it has the speed and temps... Hmm, so basically the G4 CPU has 6 cores but only 33% of it runs at 1.8Ghz while the rest runs at 1.4Ghz, I always thought multiple cores usually has the same frequency for all cores.Apps like kernel adiutor and synapse are capable of proper control of little.big architecture...setcpu sadly after i paid for it years ago stopped receiving updates

The g4 has 2 different processors...a quad core capable of around 1.7- 1.8 ghz but locked to max 1.4 by stock kernel and a dual core capable of around 2.1 ghz but locked to 1.8 max...welcome to big.LITTLE systems...setcpu is outdated and has no understanding of our processors...also i don't like the clutter of widgets so i have no clueI like the look of the SetCPU widget as it has the speed and temps... That would explain it. I thought the G4 ran on a Snapdragon 808 processor which was hexa core. The g4 has 2 different processors...a quad core capable of around 1.7- 1.8 ghz but locked to max 1.4 by stock kernel and a dual core capable of around 2.1 ghz but locked to 1.8 max...welcome to big.LITTLE systems...setcpu is outdated and has no understanding of our processors...also i don't like the clutter of widgets so i have no clue
It does...lol...the 808 is a proccessing board containing 2 seperate sets of coresThat would explain it. I thought the G4 ran on a Snapdragon 808 processor which was hexa core.
Forgot all about the specs:It does...lol...the 808 is a proccessing board containing 2 seperate sets of cores
Yes it is underclocked by lg more than likely to prevent overheating...the g2 and g3 had major heat issues...if we can get a custom kernel that supports it we can probably crank out some real power with overclockForgot all about the specs:

Up to 2 GHz hexa-core
(2x ARM® Cortex™ A57, 4x ARM® Cortex™ A53)
So 808 comes in different clock speeds?
I hated my g3...my internal memory crapped out twice and the only positive thing i can say about it was it had pretty good rom selection...but the g4 has official cm nearly stable which will bring more development...at least to the variants that get unlockable bootloaderSpeaking about the G3, doesn't that one use a quad core 4x2.5Ghz Snapdragon 801 CPU? Wouldn't that actually be faster than the G4? I have a G3 and the heating seems normal compared to the G4.
My G3 was never really used as it's just sitting idle turned on connected to WiFi so not sure about that one. All of my phones are Verizon Wireless variants, I'm hoping the G4 will have a unlockable bootloader in the near future.I hated my g3...my internal memory crapped out twice and the only positive thing i can say about it was it had pretty good rom selection...but the g4 has official cm nearly stable which will bring more development...at least to the variants that get unlockable bootloader
Sadly verizon is known for being the worst culprit in locking their phones down...unofficial unlock will be only hope on verizonMy G3 was never really used as it's just sitting idle turned on connected to WiFi so not sure about that one. Verizon Wireless had always been about being the best in network quality but hardware selection had always been the worst, at least now they offer models that are sold at competitors. Not sure but Sprint might actually be worst when it comes to locking down.Sadly verizon is known for being the worst culprit in locking their phones down...unofficial unlock will be only hope on verizon
I had verizon for years and loved everything about the service...i switched from the galaxy s3 to s4 and thats when things took a bad turn...an update locke the s4 up like a vault and never got any fix...i switched to T-Mobile and have no regrets...my g4 was bootloader unlocked from the seconds it came out of the box and the g2 and g3 was easy to bypass bootloader with bump...i refuse to pay for any service that limits the usability of something i boughtVerizon Wireless had always been about being the best in network quality but hardware selection had always been the worst, at least now they offer models that are sold at competitors. I've had Verizon Wireless since 1996 and had been using them since 1988, tried the other carriers too for the 14 day-30 day return policy. I've always been Motorola until Motorola stopped no longer offered MicroSD cards which was when I got the G3 and later the G4 that I'm currently using. T-Mobile is good in customer service but the network quality sucks in San Francisco as prior to AT&T Wireless buying Cingular Wireless, they didn't even have a network in CA/NV and only used Cingular's towers, Cingular uses T-Mobile in New York state. I have unlimited data 4G that is not throttled so hard to make me switch, besides I have a loyalty pricing.I had verizon for years and loved everything about the service...i switched from the galaxy s3 to s4 and thats when things took a bad turn...an update locke the s4 up like a vault and never got any fix...i switched to T-Mobile and have no regrets...my g4 was bootloader unlocked from the seconds it came out of the box and the g2 and g3 was easy to bypass bootloader with bump...i refuse to pay for any service that limits the usability of something i bought
