What is the best Rom for performance and smoothness ?

My phone feels laggy and slow, even if i do a factory reset the phone is not really fast anymore. I am all about power, speed, smoothness. I dont care about many features.
Btw i am a total noob i have no idea about anyhing
Will probably check some YouTube Videos about rooting and flashing roms
Maybe there is something important i should know before i Start
If so let me know

Are you doing your factory reset from the settings menu or from in the bootloader? I find the bootloader wipe to work better if you havent tried yet. Rooting and getting rid of the bloatware apps (the ones that the company wont let you uninstall without root) will help as well. Be carefull which ones you get rid of though because some deletions may break your device. Im currently on the lookout for a list of apps that is safe to debloat, and if I find it I will throw a link in here.

I personally found aosp based roms a lot smoother than cm based ones. The only downside is the lack of features provided by the rom, but that's not really a problem thanks to xposed. Right now I'm on paranoid android and it's really good. The fastest cm based rom I used was blisspop.
