What it took to get my note....

Thought I would share my tale of win when getting my galaxy note. Slight wall of text but worth it.

my t-moble renew (been with them now for 12 years) was up so i was going to get a deal from mymobilephones.net for the galaxy note, it was:

100 cross-network mins + Unlimited texts + 750MB Mobile Internet Browsing • 24 months
£ 21.00 a month + free phone

but a bit worried about their reputation so i call up t-mobile uk customer services and explained I wanted this deal matched because I dont care about talking minutes and ask if they can match it directly. what should of happened was them saying no, sorry we cant.

but this is what happened...

her best offer was:

1000 cross-network mins + unlimited texts + unlimited internet (full monty which im sure is speed capped at 1mb?)
24months
£36 a month + free phone

1 hour 30mins later I’m screaming down the phone because this stupid foreign women isn’t listening to me, keeps talking over me and she keeps offering me deals above what I’ve explained to her and doesn’t understand all I want is a yes or no answer if they can match the deal and instead she calls me a liar and precedes to tell me there is no such deal available online anywhere.

so I ask to be put through to retentions, which she does; it just takes her 15 minutes to do it. she then hot swaps (transferring to someone else without explaining anything to the person your transferring too) me to retentions with me still on the line and then again transfers retentions to another retentions adviser. at which point they both take the p1ss out off said customer adviser calling her all sorts (they are British) i announce im still on the line and apology’s are made blah blah blah. a few mins later I’m told they cant match the price and im cool with that and go through the cancellation process.

done.

5 mins later get a call from the manager of the retentions department, full of apology’s for this instance and others over the years (every time i call them up i end up through to retentions due to bad 1st/2nd line support) and tells me that they can match the deal for me since ive been with them for so long, valued customer etc etc. the deal he offers me is:

300 cross-network mins + premium numbers + Unlimited texts + 750MB Mobile Internet Browsing • 24 months
£ 21.50 a month + free phone (black galaxy note)

get that all set up, ask if I can have white version and told only black is available which is fine. arrange delivery, gives me his email and am told whenever and whatever i need i am to contact him directly and bypass 1st/2nd line support.

get off phone, very happy and satisfied with not only the service from the two members of the retentions department but also I got the deal I wanted and more.

5 mins later another call, am now told the white is available from the suppliers and i can have it.

Being delivered tomorrow.

it pays to complain it seems :)

It does indeed.

Nice deal. I had an experience with Vodafone a few years back where I was in desperate need of sending an email without wifi access and no mobile internet on my call plan, called them up and after about an hour of free phone call had 500MB internet added free for the remainder of my contract term.

Simply cause I needed it, I asked, and after being passed through about 10 people that thought I was mental asking for data but not willing to pay, someone eventually decided, why not, let's give him it.

Hi flumps, very nice story. I must say I would love to have the same deal here in Belgium but unfortunately the competition here is not working. The Mobile providers just divide the customers and no such nice promotions are available.

For a galaxy note to actually be free, I would need to have a 45-50€ subscription and only 1 or 2 mobile providers have this options. All the rest will ask you to pay 500 € for the phone plus a 2 year contract.

But I am glad for you and I wish you all the luck with your new G.NOTE.

PS: Just one question, what is it about the white G. Note, so many people are asking for it?

I am more of a traditional guy (black suite, etc.) so I thought the blue would be better and have more demand, but apparently people are favouring the white version instead. I know it is hard to explain, but I would love to hear your side of the story.

awesome! i had a similar thing with t-mobile at the beginning of this contract. 3g was slow, after 2hrs of being passed to god knows how many people im told it was because i didnt have a internet booster which doubled the speed. in the end i got that for free for the remainder of my contract, i swear they must have so many notes on my account because of the problems ive had over the years with 1st/2nd line support lol

wow, is it really that bad there for competitive pricing? i feel sorry for you, that must really suck! so does that mean they are all part of the same parent company or is it simply one sets a price and the others follow i suppose kinda like petrol stations?

500 for the phone? thats what it costs off contract anyway isnt it!? damn. thats harsh

well, about 15 years ago while living in japan, white gadgets were the big thing and still are there and ive been in love with white tech ever since. i had the G1 in white back when they were open to developers and loved it! i dont know, i just think some gadgets look nicer in white, to me it makes a nice gadget into a sexy gadget,it instantly becomes more desirable to me white just seems more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. its kinda hard to quantify now i think about it!

Awesome, it is good to complain at times especially when they give you attitude. Don't they get it, the customer is always right :D

Good deal.
I'm on a nice deal from Saunalahti myself.
Got it 2 years ago with an HTC Desire.
3000mins of talk to certain operators a month, 100mins to other operators a month for 2yrs, unlimited internet in everyway. Txt msg cost 0.069€ a pop.
All that for 4.90€ a month.
Then the Desire for 15€ a month.
Best thing is I can continue the plan for the same price in a couple of months when it ends although excluding the 100min thingy bcuz that was only for 2years but I don't care lol 99% off my calls go to those certain operators so..
Heres the internet speed  Most of the time download varies anything between 8M and the total max aka ~15M. Up seems to always stay between 2-3M

When I read those stories I feel so bad about our carriers here in colombia. I've been a customer for about 5 years and when I wanted to buy the Galaxy Note I had to pay $550 american dollars with a $50 dollars plan and 2 year contract (180 cross network minutes and 3GB data plan).

If you want to buy the phone with no contract it will cost you $1003 dollars. There's no such thing as "free phone with a plan" unless you're buying a feature phone.

So congrats on the deal you got from your carrier and enjoy your phone!

Well those are really bad conditions. In Switzerland you pay about 600 $ without a contract. I feel sorry for you.

at last a thread that didn't have the words "brick" & "ICS" in the same sentence...

interesting story from OP..

i had a similar one of my own... i've been eyeing SII eversince it came out last year but my mobile contract is not up till April this year. however i was really tempted to just shell out the money and buy the phone outright (it was selling for about $750 bucks)

however my better judgement prevailed and decided to wait it out until my contract finishes.

it was the longest 10 months as I patiently wait till my contract was up for renewal. April came and I started asking my network provider on what promos they have... by this time however I had a change of heart and already had my eyes set on the note however i didn't want to sound too eager... after they gave me the list of phones i can get for free i started asking about the note and i still need to pay a whooping $350 bucks (mind you I am on a $60.00/month plan) i told them i will call them back

after spending a few nights pondering if shelling out $350 bucks for the note is worth the thought occurred to me to test how my network provider value and reward their loyal customers (i have been with them for close to 10 years now)

so called them up after a week and told the person that i was being offered by another telcom a $400 mobile voucher if i sign up with them for the same plan i had with my current provider... and guess what!!! they matched the offer in a heartbeat and told me they'll give me the note for free plus a few more goodies including a desktop dock & battery charger and extra battery so long as i stay with them... sweeeeeeeet..

i must say this is the sweetest deal i've had... had a beast of a phone for free with goodies... good things really do come to those who wait... hehehe :D:D:D

I had the Dell Streak and it drank to much water so claimed it under insurance but only got $355 + some of my own $$ gave me a grand total of $475, the Note here in OZ ranges from $749-$849 outright, still needed to add more $$.

I have a work number and my wife has a personal account with Vodafone so couldn't upgrade till Feb next year, in the ending I went with a Mobile Payment Plan of $30 a month over 24 months under my wifes account.

I Slamed in my work SIM into my new Note which basically gives me unlimted data (fair use), calls to other mobiles and landlines.

One of best main deals at Vodafone is the $59 plan with $5 for the Note per month - Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone/ 3; unlimited Standard/ International TXT/SMS; $750 of included credit for Standard calls - landline and other mobiles, 13 & 1800#, International calls, voice mail and 1.5GB of data per month (add $5 p/m data pack for extra 750MB, $10 p/m data pack for extra 2GB, $15 p/m data pack for extra 4GB or $25 p/m data pack for extra 8GB). We are selling both the Black (blue) and White versions.

Had my Note now for over a month and love it hardley use my iPad 2, leave that at home now for my Wife.

unbranded dock... does the job but fairly simple similar to this picture... i was pretty much happy with the fact that i got the note for nothing....

anything extra is already a bonus... :D:D

damn straight, might have to invest in one of them. i bet it comes in handy when charging
