My Pixel 4a 5G has began to show its age, with no ability to root due to the Verizon model. I've saved up some cash to buy a new phone. Does anyone have recommendations for a new phone I can buy?

I've looking for a phone that's rootable, however there's so much options available.
Depending on your budget, I can recommend the 6a for 350 or the 7a for 500… if you’re willing to spend 600, the oneplus 11 is great too

Thinking about switching from a Pixel to a Galaxy

I currently have a pixel 6 pro and I was thinking about swapping to a s23+ or s23 ultra. I think I may go with the s23+, but I haven't decided yet, my main concern is the differences in usage of the phone. I don't have many experiences outside of the pixel when it comes to Android, so I wanted to know if there's any major features that change between the two that could make or break a deal in your opinion.

P.S. I also am slightly on the fence between the plus and ultra, while I like the idea of the stylus, slightly better camera, battery life, etc... I don't know if the price jump would be worth it and I was thinking about the potential of a smaller phone.

Any and all help and opinions are greatly appreciated

If you want lots of customization and features, oneUi is for you… If you take a lot of photos or notes on your phone, get the ultra…. imho the ultra is not worth it otherwise

Hello everybody.
What's a good phone to get under 400€? The things I value the most is a very good camera, enough horsepower to stay updated for a few years (I don't play mobile games, only a few old emulators from time to time), and the possibility to change the OS (LineageOS/AOSP/whatever) when official updates ends.
I don't really care about 5g support, cause I live in a country where its not comming soon.
Pixel 6a. The price is $350 and it has a seriously great camera

Hey everyone, hope you doing well.
I'm looking for a new phone and i'll go for a flagship for sure. I'm using my redmi note8 pro since it's realese and i really enjoyed the modding and tinkering with it. But it seems to fall short nowadays. I can't even see my screen under sun. I mainly use it watch videos and that sort of things. So i'm looking for a killer screen as well as looking for great cams cuz i started to take photos a lot nowadays. Actually i covered my redmi's awful main cam via LMC cam app but i can't do that with videos as there wont be a image processing like photos do.

So i actually thought of xiaomi 13 ultra, oppo find x6 pro, samsung galaxy s23 ultra and pixel 7 pro (but if i decide to pull trigger on pixel 7 pro i'll wait for 8 pro) xiaomi 13 ultra and oppo find x6 pro is really appealing but it's selfie cam falls short when compared to samsung but their screens are much better which i prefer. And pixel's screen falls short when compared to any other phone in my list. So actually im actually thinking does it worth to have a better selfie cam for 850 nits diffrence (2600 on xiaomi 1750 on samsung). And some users are reported that samsung's colors are washed out (but im more than willing to tinker with color calibration settings)

Samsung has the best screen afaik... The colors are NOT washed out from what I have seen and heard. If you really want a flagship I'd abstain from the Pixel; it's a great phone, the Samsung has better hardware.

Just don't get an iPhone please

EDIT: If you ask why I didn't mention the Xiaomi, I hate MIUI with a passion, and the Samsung will have better update support than the Oppo (and OneUI > ColorOS imho - still like stock A13 tho).

I'd flash a custom rom so those doesnt really matter and i wont go for iphone for sure. I hate it from bottom of my heart. Some people are reported that s23 ultra has washed out colors and xiaomi has darker blacks with more vibrant colors with its 850 nits advantedge. But i really want to buy samsung because of the looks and premium feel. But i'll use my phone for at least 6 years so i want a great screen too. My prioritize screen more than cams. So im kinda moving towards to xiaomi but it kinda looks really ugly.

As samsung going for snapdragon on all of their s23 line i expect it to have a better rom support than last decade. But xiaomi terrifies me a bit in that part. Cuz a phone gets custom rom support according to their popularity 13 ultra wont be as popular as samsung for sure.

And also i stumbled upon sony xperia 1 V and it looks amazing with that 4k screen + better cam lenses. But there is no info about the brightness of the panel i dont want to go something below 1750 nits.

No… there aren’t any aosp for modern Samsung devices that support volte (Samsung uses some proprietary implementation that doesn’t work outside of stock). Later Exynos models actually had more custom ROMs than Snapdragon (still no volte tho). It’s more likely that xiaomi will get more roms. The Pixel already has a lot of custom ROM development (the others don’t)

fyi the Xperia has a peak of 1200 nits.

So its still a matter between xiaomi and samsung i was really feeling warmer to samsung before you said that now i question myself. So im kinda feeling warmer to xiaomi rn. Btw volte isnt that much important to me (it still isnt a standard in my country) but i need to have carrier services.

Ok... It's your decision to make, they're all good phones.....

If you want that right now, the Pixel 7 pro would be the only one with a current LOS build
Those were just examples but i really want an aosp rom for my phone. But xiaomi 13 ultra hasnt been realesed yet so it is so natural that it doesnt have any custom rom.

Btw regular xiaomi 13 has evoX custom rom which i love so i'll go for xiaomi 13 ultra i guess.

Neither does the Samsung.....
Samsung is just realesed xiaomi 13 ultra hasnt been realesed yet worldwide rn they will realese it on 7th of june. But samsung has so thats a factor. But as far as i research xiaomi just peaks around 1350 nits while testing so thats a factor too. And a factor that distrubs me. So in the end i couldnt even got one millimeters closer to decide. Im as confused as start.

The Pixel 7 Pro and Xperia 1 III and 5 III all have LineageOS support.....

The Xiaomi 13 does not support evolution (official/unofficial) as far as I can see.

Xiaomi phones always have ROM development though so it'll come eventually

Let me sum and tidy it up a little bit.
I dont want a screen below 1500 nits.
I want a vibrant and colorful screen preferably at least dci p3 color space if possible bt2020.
I want at least rootable and debloatble phone and preferably custom rom flashable.
I want great cams.
My priorities are screen > modding > cameras. I rather to have a great selfie and decent main camera. Instead of decent selfie great main cam.

My strongest competitors was samsung s23 ultra (doesnt have great modding support), xiaomi 13 ultra(it has a dimmer screen in daily use + worse selfie cam + kinda ugly), xperia 1 V(It has much dimmer screen compared to others + definatly have worse modding support than xiaomi + worse selfie cam lens but diffrence is so marginal so i can ignore it).

    Hi everyone!

I am looking for a relatively up-to-date phone, that has:
    - enough power to surf smoothly
    - lineageOS support
    - dimensions as small as possible (I love the Samsung S4 mini's size)
    - working VoLTE with custom ROMs/lineageOS
    - an optical zoom lens would be nice to have
    - 5G would be nice to have

    Thank you for any recommendations!

    Hi!
Im searching for a new android phone. I have a few things I'd really like on my new phone:
    -5g connectivity
    -8gb ram or more
-256gb (128gb if it has a microsd slot)
    -good cpu and gpu
    -atleast custom recovery support
    -min. 4500mah battery
    -good camera
    -ultrawide cam
    -maybe fast charging

i found the redmi note 11 pro plus 5g and i think it meets my needs but i wanted to ask here to be safe.

    Thanks in advance!

Excellent, I hope this will attract some discussion on new devices so new threads won't be opened.

I am not looking for a new phone right now, well maybe not depending on the outcome of HTC repairing my Sensation I guess. I sure hope to find out tomorrow. I think if I was going to get a replacement now I would probably get the SGS3 over the OneX. I really don't like the non-removable battery and maybe worse, no SD slot. I know why they did it for economic reasons but I am just not going to go that direction. Batteries do not last forever and their maximum charge level goes down over time. I want to be able to plug the SD into my computer and do a local backup. I also want to be able to get a bigger or faster SD if one comes out.
I am used to Sense but I am sure I could get used to Touchwiz as well, and I just read in the portal that ROM Cleaner works with the SGS3 now, as long as I can rid of the bloat I am content. I am sure that when my contract is done in a year there will be something newer and better out anyways. ;)

I hope it does aswell. These forums definitely have too many of those threads being created

I think I'd choose the S3 aswell to be honest. Even though the One X is a powerful phone, the S3 can quite easily out perform it, as it can with most phones.

The only time I'd be looking to upgrade is when mine become redundant, which with having an S2 (which can still keep up with the newest flagship devices) and Xperia S, I won't need to upgrade for a while I don't think.

I would take the Lumina. My girlfriend has one and its pretty good.

Never owned a tablet before.. flirting with the idea of a galaxy tab 2 10.1. As of current, I'm all good with my s3 but I'm kinda interested in what this next galaxy note 2 will bring. Guess I'm some sort of galaxy fan.. ever since my vibrant :p
