You should also consider the Galaxy Nexus.

I have a Nexus S and it has been great so far. I don't see what the big deal with the curved glass is but I have noticed a few hairline scratches on my screen from just sitting in my pocket. Also there is some slight burn-in on the top edge where the black notification bar is. There is a blue tint to it when there is a white background.

I would recommend Xperia Play, I love the UI, way better than stock Ginglebread and TouchWiz/Sense, in my opinion. My first option would be Xperia Play, but you don't like the UI. But you can install CM7. Or wait for ICS for it. It almost on the corner.

But as a second option, Nexus S.

Curious why you consider curved glass a plus, that is my most hated feature of any smartphone ever. I love Samsung but I absolutely hate their stupid useless curved screens, good for nothing and just screw up my typing cuz I always accidentally touch the edge, especially when using one handed which i do most of the time. Phone cases are less effective and screens get damaged way easier. I see a zero upside to a curved screen, please enlighten me to your thoughts on why you consider this a positive thing, thanks.
