Stockv4.5.8+Franco Kernel
Been a long time Franco Kernel user so didn't try anything else as generally didn't feel the need. My main needs are satisfied with a kernel that gets additional battery life, Viper4Android and Substratum theming. After that OOS/Nova Launcher was good enough.

OP5 1: Stock H2OS + Franco kernel on my daily driver
OP5 2: Stock H2OS + ElementalX kernel for testing purposes (was my daily driver kernel)

Next to try is direct comparison between OOS and H2OS and the 2nd phone will be used to play around with roms and kernels and compare to my daily driver setup.

In the past when I had the OP3, h2os was way more polished and used to be the base (got updates early) for OOS. However, now both seem to be at the same page and the h2os build is always updated post the OOS build. How has been your experience with h2os?

Just got my OP5 in the mail today, will be unboxing it tonight! I'm planning on either flashing RR with Lightning Kernel, or the unofficial RR since it has lightning built in, as well as a few other mods (like YouTube AdBlock/Background playback)

I used H2OS from the start since I bought both the phones (8GB versions) ridiculously cheap for just 3500 RMB (€450) in China. Removed some of the Chinese apps. But most of them I actually use since I am actually living here. The H2OS versions were not haunted by most of the early issues I read on the international forum.. I didn't have wifi or Bluetooth issues.. also didn't have weird battery drains. So after trying OOS for 2 days I went back to H2OS which I found to be slightly better on the battery.

Right now I use my OP5 1 with H2OS and Franco kernel as my daily driver and the OP5 2 I experiment with with other roms and kernels until I find something that is worth making my daily driver software.

For you, what is the best Kernel for Battery ? I'm using stock OOS and Lightning Kernel.
If H2OS is good I may try it
Lightning v7 is great on battery. Just tweak it a little bit for your usage and you may get even better results. Boeffla is also equivalent good for battery. Blu_spark and ElementalX are more biased towards balanced profile.

I don't think I'm allowed to mention the name of the rom I'm using on xda...but yea. That's the one I'm using and it's ok so far, a couple of days. Just clean flashed the latest official....and so far so good on that too
