What speeds should I expect with an international sim card from the UK?

I'll be in the UK this fall and assuming Sprint gives me the unlock code, I should be able to just pop in a sim card from any British telecom, update the APN and I'm connected on a prepaid account.

Assuming this is right, what speeds can I expect for data? I'm guessing that Sprint's 4G is not compatible with any of the 4G signals there, and thus I'll be stuck on 3G, right?

Just a report, I am getting H+ connections but at least on Vodafone it's super slow speeds. Not even 3G. Oh well. :-/

You should make sure that you are set to the correct hspa+ revision for Vodaphone. It could be that they aren't using 1900mhz to its full potential like tmobile does in the states too, as in maybe most of their hspa+ traffic is offloaded to a spectrum this phone can't connect to.

As for the op, it does seem like a super straightforward process, sprint will OTA unlock too btw, no codes for this phone. However if and when it doesn't work visit autoprime 's thread on international sim unlock and you should be good to go.

Hey, I am OP and replier too. haha

So how do I set to the correct H+ revision for Vodafone? I don't even know where to check for this. I'd imagine this phone is just limited in what it can do on the network, or Vodafone isn't using signals that this phone can utilize well. I would try O2 but Vodafone gave the better options initially.

Ha, observant me....

I've been reading about vodaphone uk and it seems that they use the 2100 mhz for h+ and this phone is capable(i think) . If you can get into the service mode "hidden menu" (ie *#0011#) there is an option under the menu Umts>debug>phonecontrol>networkcontrol>bandselection > where you can select all etc. Also has an option for hspa channel etc.

How do I navigate through this hidden menu? I'd like to check out what you said but I have no idea what I'm doing. The volume buttons don't work, none of the soft keys do anything. After I go to the hidden menu, a screen called ServiceMode comes up. Doesn't seem to do anything by tapping either.

Press the menu soft key then input the the number 1 and press OK, then press the menu soft key and a select back, then repeat, changing back and forth between key input and select choosing inputting the number 1 and repeat until it kicks you into a new menu. It's a little janky, it's a low level interface.

I understand what you wrote but it doesn't do anything. It briefly changes the output to below the ServiceMode title to just say "1" but then goes right back to the same screen.
