dont even bother with ART... just my opinion...

2 out of 140 apps didnt work and 1 of them was whatsapp! I know there are builds that work.. but i didnt got any faster opening times... fb app still with lag... so theres no point on using this beta runtime...

2.11.42 installed over ART for me no problem. Does anyone have the 2.11.50 apk so I can try as well?

Seriously I don't get why people like Whatsapp.

There are many alternative out there such as Viber or Line which provides better interface and actually adhere to Google guidelines.
Maybe because we don't have many techy friends and they all use whatsapp? If all of my friends used Line then I'd use Line but everyone in Mexico uses whatsapp /:

I would switch over to ART if WhatsApp would work on it, because that is the only app that just gives me a fc.
Wouldn't it be great to run just WhatsApp in Dalvik?

I got 2 nexus 4 here with both exact same images, 1 running dalvik and 1 running ART. I can tell you ART feels a lot smoother and less laggy. then standard dalvik. Its just fractions of seconds maybe but still it feels very nice

I've sent an email to WA support team to ask when a future update will be available which will solve the fc when running ART. Here's the reply from the support team:

"Hi, Thanks for your message. Currently, ART does not support WhatsApp. [snip]".
Do they understand what a runtime environment means? [snip]
Yep. Exactly what I asked myself when I read that support response. To be fair enough, ART isn't the default runtime (yet?) and currently "experimentally available for the purpose of obtaining early developer and partner feedback". So, there's no reason that requires WA to support ART atm (beside users asking for support). But, in fact, the answer should read "Currently, WhatsApp does not support ART".

It's like asking Linus to change Linux so it can run Outlook 2013.
True. And while we're on it, I'm still waiting for Android supporting iOS apps. Shame on you, Google. ^^ ;)

I think they started to get their hands on ART and will try to make it compatible, but they may not be so skilled so it could take a while.

Or not. One Google tech guy said it was indeed a problem with ART, and it would get fixed on the next AOSP

i don't really understand, why people refuse to change. just as an example: when windows 8 came out, may didn't like the new metro even without trying, just because they heard it was different. or they didn't really try to like it. same goes for messenger apps. whatsapp is very popular NOW, but i think there are lots of awesome messenger apps now. many of them way better than whatsapp. and people don't switch, because their friends use whatsapp. guess what. it was the same with whatsapp. and any other application that is popular before it was popular. people are just too lazy to make the switch. same with facebook. only introducing ****ty features but nobody switches. i'm using hike messenger, and i really like it, despite having only very few friends using it. also waaayyy better support than whatsapp

tl;dr: try something new. use another messenger

It's not a matter of better support of features, it all boils down to: which app are all my friends currently using? This is basically a social media app, and if I don't have any friends on any of the other apps, what's the point of using them?

I would love to tell my friends to make a switch to something better, but then that would mean I have to have to tell everyone to switch, and then they would have to make their friends switch too, etc... OR use two messaging services. It is simply too much headache.

In this time of social media, it seems like whatever works best in the beginning is the one that is going to last (take facebook vs google+).
