WHERE CAN I GET XDA IIi?????

It would seem to me that the XDA IIi * is all that I need. But I don't know who is planning to release the Blue Angel with the 1.3Mpx camera. Does anyone know the approximate price in whichever currency? Anyone know anything more?





*I don't care how it's branded, I just want the faster cpu and bigger cam of the IIi.

Can you confirm the specs of the MDA III?

a) Is it Windows Pocket PC Second Edition (with the screen rotation)?
b) Camera resolution?

the one being sold at ebay is actually (i think) an xda iis or 2i. It has the new form factor (w/ slide out qwerty keyboard), comes with wm2003 2nd ed with landscape mode and built in wifi.
However, its screen resolution and camera and all other features are the same as xda2.

The xda 3 however, which will come out about the Q2 or Q3 of 2005, will have a faster processor (650 mhz), MP camera, better screen resolution, etc.

T-Mobile in the US says they don't plan to carry it. Verizon says they expect it by early next month. I'm 99% sure I'm going to switch carriers, since Verizon also now has their high-speed EV-DO network running, and I'm tired of 40k GPRS. Plus I'd find coverage in rural areas useful.

Is the Verizon version also a GSM phone, or is it a TDMA device? I have lost track of what technology Verizon is using these days.

Verizon is CDMA. So you lose things like the SIM, which I do find valuable to swap into another phone. But I don't see T-Mobile doing anything to improve data, while I watched a Verizon EV-DO user pull down 627k/second the other day. :shock:

Thanks Carlos. Yes, the data rate sounds impressive! Any idea how I would get on if I travelled to Europe? What happens with Verizon over there wit out GSM?

Your GSM roaming abilities would be zero with this device. North American only (US/Canada/Mexico). Verizon does have some roaming agreements, but you'd need a GSM phone and you'd have to set it up with Verizon in advance. Really though, it's far cheaper to buy a pay-as-you-go to use in Europe, as all the US carriers charge $1-$2 per minute for international roaming.

Thanks Carlos. Yes, I use an O2 pay and go SIM now while in UK, having found out the hrad way about T-mobile international roaming....! Guess if I switched, I would just keep some kind of GSM device for use in UK
