Can unlock developer options and then connect to internet to see if you have oem unlock option present or not?

I purchased a brand new phone on ebay from playfone.go for $1085.00 plus $8.00 shipping. I received the phone in 2 days in perfect condition. The phone is a SM-N9860 Snapdragon 865+ 12GB RAM 256GB Storage and dual sim. The phone came from Taipei, Taiwan.

Guys I'm new here, I read the whole thing page by page and I gotta tell, you guys are amazing!!.

I live in the US, and I was even considering the SM-N9860, I heard the issues with 5G and it kinda worries me since I live in a good 5G compatible area. My carrier is AT&T and sadly ALL the note 20 ultras 512gb ON WHITE have sold and I can't find anything ANYWHERE. Does anyone know if there is a hidden seller out there selling these rare treasures? lol. Its so frustrating that I'll have to buy 128 or 256 just because they decided to not make anymore 512gb on white version.

How does the HK N9860 works on the US? I live in Florida, close to Tampa. Is there anyone here living in the US with one of these badboys?

PS. IF ANYONE knows any seller that is selling either a HK SM-N9860 or a SM-N986U (the US VERSION) 512gb white samsung galaxy note 20 ultra 5g LET ME KNOW!!, i will definetly buy it.

I have a HK/China (don't know if those two are different) variant. I was wondering why Playstore is not pre-installed?

can u see the 5g one in that wiki, it has 2100 but n66?

As far as I am aware only Hong Kong versions have unlocked bootloader for Snapdragon. The US one doesn't.

Exynos, on the other hand, has fully unlocked bootloader so can be rooted.

On the other hand, do you really need rooting the phone? As far as I am aware there is currently no option to root without destroying Knox, but I might be wrong.

Here are the GSM specs from Wonda for Hong Kong version:

    2G BANDS GSM: GSM850,GSM900,DCS1800,PCS1900
    3G BANDS WCDMA: B1(2100),B2(1900), B5(850),B8(900)
    4G BANDS 4G FDD-LTE: B1(2100),B2(1900),B3(1800),B4(AWS),B5(850),B7(2600),B8(900),B12(700),B13(700), B18(800),B19(800),B20(800),B25(1900),B26(850),B28(700) 4G TDD-LTE: B34(2010),B38(2600),B39(1900),B40(2300),B41(2500)
    5G BANDS 5G Sub-6 FDD: N1(2100) / 5G Sub-6 TDD: N78(3500),N79(4500)

So it seems that your one is not in the list (n66) so it might not work....

Ordered! Will order 256 version in White version since there is no White in 512GB... Shipping in early September....:crying:

Congrats! I ordered black one with 512Gb.

I hope they will ship earlier, can't wait! :)

We definitely need to test them inside out to see how they perform :)

Well, well, well...You convinced me to switch from the Korean Version I was looking at to the HK/CN version. Gain the support for dual sim(even though I don't use it). Almost the same price of the Korean version I was buying, expect with WonderMobile import fees are included, which is a plus. Both HK and Korean seem to support the same bands that I use here. It'll take a little longer to ship to me out in Japan, yet I am excited as well.

What would be the reason VoLte wouldn't work? Requires a specific LTE band in the country?

Yes, the HK one is probably the best and most advanced option right now.

No idea why VoLTE doesn't work, however, looking to Reddit, it looks like it works for some people / operators. So I assume it might be something to do with a specific mobile operator. It would be a good idea to test a few sim cards and see which operator supports it.

I will test it with Three and EE UK sim cards so will at least know if both of them are working fine.

sadly thats how its looking so far.

for sure the Korean versions 5G bands dont line up...not sure about the HK version yet since i haven't seen any information on them

From Wondamobile.com website under the question and answers section.

    https://www.wondamobile.com/samsung...e-sim-free-and-unlocked.html#product_question

It is Qualcomm with Dual Sim version. Please check the bands with your Carrier

    4G FDD-LTE: B1(2100),B2(1900),B3(1800),B4(AWS),B5(850),B7(2600),B8(900),B12(700),B13(700), B18(800),B19(800),B20(800),B25(1900),B26(850),B28(700) 4G TDD-LTE: B34(2010),B38(2600),B39(1900),B40(2300),B41(2500)

    5G Sub-6 FDD: N1(2100) / 5G Sub-6 TDD: N78(3500),N79(4500)

What did u find abt roger, I am with telus but I can get corporate rogers plan, actually cheaper too

    rogers 5g frequencies are 2600/600

so neither the Korean nor HK snapdragon will work which sucks. i need 512gb and I dont want black which is all thats available. I may pass on the 20 this year...not sure just yet but dropping $2300 for a phone i dont like the colour of just bugs me .[/QUOTE]

How about using this so called "Samsung Band Selection" app? - link: https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/g49ocr/app_samsung_band_selection_app/ or https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/app-samsung-band-selection-app-helps-t4089117

Apparently the XDA link was posted on S10+ forum, and the app does not require ROOT (which is a plus)

Would this help with the Hong Kong variant of SM-N9860, using Snapdragon chipset so that the phone is "forced" to use a specific 5G signal / band in the designated area ?
