Guys. All exynos variants use isocell and all snapdragon use sony. Maybe somebody who can get their hands on both can do a side by side review?

US Unlocked purchased directly from Samsung.com, with a 05/2017 build date. Sony shooters front and rear.

I also noted it showed the presence of a grip sensor. Think that is referring to the home button?

Last year the big deal with the Sony vs Isocell sensors was Note 7 ROM ports. If you had one of the sensors, it would cause the camera to force close, whereas the other sensor would work just fine. There was a debate back and forth which one was best, if either was. I had a 935F and my wife had a 935T and we both had the same sensor, which was supposedly the better sensor. And I was able to flash the Note 7 port to my 935F.

Really looks like all Snapdragon phones come with the Sony sensor.
Where the Exynos phone have the Samsung Sensor.

PS: The Grip Sensor was there since the S7 and maybe even before that?

Weird. I don't remember seeing it before. Wonder if it has to do with the edge screen and detecting you touching it. I know the S7E was really bad, if you touched the edge, then your touches elsewhere wouldn't be recognized at times. Both our S7Es had that problem. I haven't had any issues with the edge of the S8+.

The Grip-Sensor is also there on the normal S7 (without the EDGE) but the problem you mentioned with this EDGE screen is still persistant on the S8.
But the EDGE screen on the S8(+) is a lot less curved then the one on the S7 EDGE. The the problem happens less...

I have the exynos s8+ with isocell sensors (rear and front).

@OP.. I think the poll should have been between both rear camera sensors (i.e IMX333 vs S5K2L2) instead of being between rear sensor of one (IMX333) vs front sensor (S5K3H1) of the other variant.

ISOCELL is better, i.e. the Exynos variant

Exynos has a larger 7.8mm sensor vs 7.0mm on Snapdragon. Also, android authority has an article with photo comparisons side-by-side. You also get much better battery life with the Exynos variant as a bonus. ;)

Are you sure with the sensor size?
Because this would mean much smaller pixels on the Snapdragon (Sony) Sensor....

My previous phone - s7 had Sony sensor. My s8+ has ISOCELL sensor and it feels like a total downgrade comparing to S7. Camera is terrible, blurry at the edges and perfectly sharp only in center of the photo. I've compared other photos in online reviews, because I thought that my sensor is defective, but no. It's just ****ty. Thanks Samsung...

You are describing a defective lens. I also have an s7e with sony and my current s8 has an isocell. The s8 is way better. You should get your phone repaired

Camera sensor and blur

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I am one of the people who experienced a camera blur (Samsung Galaxy S8+ G955FD) and this poll gave me the idea to investigate whether there is a relation between the Sony/ISOCELL module and said blur.
So if people would be so nice as to vote on my poll so I can get a better understanding of this issue, that'd be much appreciated.

I'm pretty new to actually posting replies, so please do tell me if it is against the rules to link to another poll/post.

Are you sure? This guy is saying exactly the same thing, blurry left corner. It happens only for photos w it 'infinite' focus. For photos of something close everything is OK. And again, I've seen many sample photos and each of them has this defect.

Take a look on this (and left side) - long exposure photo (hour - 22:30, iso 50, 10sec, raw):
