Which component was messed up?

So, which 3rd party component was messed up? I am going to guess the hinge. It is interested I have not seen it mentioned at all what the actual part is though. Maybe I have missed it?

I believe it was the batteries. I don't have the link but a dev posted on the nvidia site asking for help because his shield was dead and wouldn't charge.

I could totally see this being the problem. but I haven't seen anything official at all. if you happen to find the link or a quote we would love it.
