One more result from last evening, the phone was at 11% battery charge and completely online:
21:00- 11%
22:00- 87%
22:26- 100%
Not bad at all, especially compared to stock charger- 20% to 100% about 2h.

I've tried the Samsung and Asus fast chargers and I can't get the p9 to fast charge. Is it just working with the huawei branded charger? Frustrating trying to get it to work. I'm so used to fast chargers and feel like I'm back in 2010.

Doing a little research. Huawei makes a 9v 2A and a 5v 3A charger with the description of being fast. Confused.

Yes the Huawei 9V2A/5V2A Charger is the only one which will "Fast Charge" the P9. It's available from 1 or 2 places, I bought one from AliExpress. But it's only available with A US or EU plug I believe (No UK plug), so if you are UK based, like me, you have to buy a cheap travel adaptor. Works well though and charges from flat to 100% in about 90 mins. It's also Qualcomm QC2.0 compatible if you have other phones (e.g. HTC etc).

No QC fast charger (probably because of way the adaptive thing works), those seem to give you only the 5V/2A output, so the same thing as the stock charger.

BTW, the P9 PLus is already out, isn't it? And it comes with a fast charger from what I know. Shouldn't Huawei have spares for that thing out already? I mean, it's a in-house technology, one can't buy a generic one, it's like with OP3 and ZTE. One can lose or break the charger for some reason and spare ones should be easily available...

^No, it's normal micro USB cable. I still have only the cable, that came with the phone and that remind me- i need to buy one more type C cable...

Ok i just went to the store and played with the p9+ charger and the phone doesn't indicate it's charging fast. Screen still says charging. With the stock charger if I play a game it drains even when plugged in so I tested with the 9v 2A and no difference.
I'm yet to see anything official from huawei about fast charging for the p9 so I'm having my doubts. Can anyone show me a screenshot saying fast charging on the lock screen?

Huawei's fast charging works at full rates only if you not using the phone. When you use the phone, charging rates drop down due to protection of overheating. Ampere says:
Screen off: + 2800mA
Screen on: varies from +200mA to +1800mA
If someone needs real fast charging, 1+3 is the correct device.

Ok now it's confirmed. I made the phone shop staff open a p9+ and let me test the charger. It works and even the staff didn't know that it works on the p9.
So now I got them to order me through the service division a brand new p9 plus charger for roughly 16 USD. Good day all round. Thanks for the help.

I'm based Thailand btw.

Just buy a type B to type C adapter like this: https://www.anker.com/products/B8174011

Or, if you want to use the fast charger and still use it to charge other regular micro USB devices, the reversed adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Type-C-USB-...549757?hash=item5b2463e27d:g:fQQAAOSwYmZXMAw8

It's not like you'll be having anything else type C for a while, so this is probably a better option than duplicating the jungle of chargers and cables we already have. Plus, from the tests I've seen, USB C doesn't really show the promised faster transfer rates to a PC, or at least not yet.

Bit of an off topic side note... Honor 8 seems like an interesting phone, bit like a P9 with the slightly less faster but (theoretically) more power efficient 950 SoC from the Mate 8. Very curious to see how that goes as I really need to get me a new phone ASAP!!

That's more like it. Thanks to this thread.
What charger did you order? I know the Mate 8 charger works for Fast Charging but all the chargers I find on eBay are cheap knock-offs which aren't guaranteed to work. I've attached pictures of a genuine Mate 8 Fast charger which I got with my Mate 8, need another one for my dads P9.

Edit: can't seem to post link and I have no idea how to attach pictures, so here is the album: imgur(.)com/a/isgxa

I got the original p9+ charger ordered from the service centre.
Nobody stocks them in stores anywhere.

Same spec as the ones myself and others bought mentioned earlier in the thread

Minor difference in the Model No: UHQ instead of CHQ on mine, but looks the same apart from that.
Plenty available if you look around

I live in a major Asian city and couldn't find a single Huawei accessory in any store after two days of searching.
The brand isn't there yet. It's all Samsung and Apple.

Same thing is virtually true even for the internet. You do have way more trouble finding one of these chargers than you would expect from what is now a mainstream, well known brand. I know they are much bigger on sales than Huawei but a lot easier to find Xiaomi or Meizu stuff on the interweb and that still sounds odd to me.

I found it hard enough to buy a P9 case (official) and wound up importing one as Huawei didn't even have them on its own vMall website (for Europe).

Likewise, I've found it hard to find chargers and other accessories.

As you say, for such a big player (and one that has been around for ages) it is very odd to find it so disorganised with accessories.
