Which FAST charger I should order for my new Huawei P9

As you say, for such a big player (and one that has been around for ages) it is very odd to find it so disorganised with accessories.
And not just their accessories... look at this thread, people can't even tell if the thing fast charges or not, took a community to find that out because officially nothing is mentioned.

I don't know, this got me cold feet regarding the P9 and now I have a phone that I urgently need to replace and am back to square one. Price on the Honor 8 could change my mind but that will probably take too long to get here in Europe and I can't wait that long.

It doesn't help when there are so many handset variants and no real way to tell which is which. The Honor 7 having various versions, some with NFC, some without. Dual SIM or not. The Mate S having Force touch and not, depending on model. The P9 Plus having it, or does it?

The Honor 5c having a fingerprint sensor in China, but not in Europe...

I know you can tell from the actual model number, but this isn't often mentioned when the phones are on sale online - and there were plenty of questions about which version we were getting in retail here. Initially we were told dual-SIM, then it turned out not to be the case..

Well, we are dealing with Asian companies that have the main market in Asia, so we aren't used to this way of doing things. We might have to be though, Europe and US markets are nothing compared to Asia, plus we have all the lawyers filing lawsuits because "hey, we invented the round button! Give us 50 million!". Expensive doing business here.

Only Huawei branded chargers will work. Just received this one. Works perfectly.

And it works in very interesting way. Yet I think it really saves a battery. I have a power meter in my 220V power outlet. At first charger kicks at 16W power mode. Later another mode I've noticed was some kind of trickle charging, when power meter showed the charger changing it's power used: 16W - 11.5W - 16W - 11.5W. Just more later - steady 11.5W. And it has to do a lot not with how much battery left, but with it's temperature. If your phone just feels warm in your hand - the charger won't kick to 16W mode even at the beginning.

---------- Post added at 06:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:20 AM ----------

The final result here: started charging at 34%. 30 minutes later I had 74%. With 3000mAh battery inside 40 percent in 30 minutes seems to be quite impressive to me :)

Hi,
For everyday charging I use stock charger from box, but I have a problem when I am in my car. I have bought a charger Tronsmart C2PTU which has QuickCharge function. Regardless max charging power is from 250 mA to 450 mA. What is the reason? I use original Huawei cable USB-A<>USB-C.
Thanks in advance for reply.

Huawei doesn't support Qualcomm Quick Charge. All QC chargers will charge phone at usual 5V mode. Huawei uses it's own technology.

I don't even dream about quick charge but most of car charges charge very slow so using google maps navi with yanosik app cause discharge despite charge. There is a little better with Tronsmart but this is not what I wonder.

QC is an adaptive charger, so there's "communication" between phone and the charger. I'm guessing that because Huawei doesn't use that system, the charger is putting out a lot less power. See if you can try a regular 1A/5V or even better a 5v/2A car charger. Should be a passive process with nothing controlling the output-input.

Same problem. I have an Anker QC charger and it is working flawlessly with OPO and LGG4 but every port it has charges my P9 pretty slow. Just wondering, can it be the cable? First QC port. Second normal.

I would suggest a different cable as I get much higher charging speeds from my QC2.0 charger. Remember the P9 isn't a Qualcomm QC phone, but you should still get quicker speeds. LTE/4G Data on will bring it down though.

It's not the cable, Huawei QC is proprietary and it will only work with their chargers. Even if it is a 2v/9A quick charge, a QC compatible brick like your Anker will only give you 1A/5V.

They weren't explicit about this on the P9 and didn't include the proper faster charger, also not very explicit with the P9+ but included the proper charger but they did mention the proprietary fc technology a few days ago on the Honor 8 launch.

If you go back to the first couple of pages, you'll see that the P9 acknowledges "fast charging" with a message on the lock screen just like other phones do. It only does that though with their chargers so it sounds like it is an active technology just like QC quickcharge 2 or 3 or Samsung's Adaptive Charge, not just how many watts you can dump to the battery.

You might get a better time with a better conductive cable but it's down to the SOC and the power brick.

There's some numbers on those first pages also but essentially you get pretty much the same charging time using a QC 3.0 as you get with the standard, non-fast charger stock charger that comes with the phone (2A/5V and little bit above 2 hours from 0 to 100%). There's a significant difference using Huawei's proper charger, getting you somewhere around the 1 hour and 20/30 minutes from 0 to 100%.

PS: I might have confused you because I didn't address the issue clearly. The charger that comes with the phone is not the fast charger. You have to buy it separately and it's not a 2A/5V, it's a 2A/9V. Hope that helps!

Yeah thank you. I know those infos read about them pages back. Just wondered could be the cable because others getting way much better results with normal chargers. I don't want quickcharge with the 2A/5V chargers just some proper result. If you tell me the 1.3mAh is completely fine I will just calm dawn a bit and admit it is not a defective phone. (I bought it second hand in perfect condition without charger/unboxed, 2 weeks old btw.)

Oh sorry, I missed the gist of your question as I wasn't able to see the picture but I can now. Yes, theoretically you should be getting more but, then again, I see your battery is at 90% so it might be normal for it to trickle charge at that level. It's hard to say, could also be a cable, brick, phone problem or phone settings (I ended up going for a different phone and it does have a setting where QC can be turned off). So it doesn't rule out phone damage but I would think it highly unlikely (based purely on gut feeling). 1.3A charge won't damage the phone though, the problem would be if it was pumping a lot more wattage than it's meant to get.

You should be getting a 0-100 charge a bit above 2 hours with the Anker, so try different bricks and cables, check if there is any charging setting and check the times. I would rely more on the charging times than on those readings.

But I'm with you, I would check all of the above to rule out phone damage. Better safe than sorry and I would worry too... Sorry for not being able to be more helpful.

This is on P9+ (and sorry for the messy setup). I am not sure if we can take values reported by the app on its face value. With the charger it came with, I can do fast charger just fine. I also have QC2.0 charger which does not fast charge, however...
