I have a Verizon Xoom that is 3g/4g, though I only use it on wifi. Is it considered a wingray, stingray or what, because I wish to flash a new rom.
It's stingray. That said, if you don't have a VZW data plan for it, you can flash wingray (WiFi-only) ROMs to it. Even if you decide to keep it stock, I would flash a wingray stock ROM to it as the latest wingray ROM is 4.1.2/Jelly Bean while the latest stingray ROM is 4.0.4/Ice Cream Sandwich.

:good: Thanks to Kamau54 and oldblue910 for this thread!

I've been tinkering with Linux (Mint, Fedora, Ubuntu) on Win7/Win8 PCs/laptops for the last 3-5 years and have been avoiding the "rooting" world...until the last week or so. My end goal is to root my Samsung Galaxy Note II and actually use extSDcard for more than a space filler.

I've been a good XDA Developers n00b  and have read and searched and read and slept and read ... about rooting a Xoom. Until today, however, I had only known my tablet was an MZ602 (U.S. Motorola Xoom with WiFi + Verizon 4G LTE) running ICS (4.0.4).

NOW, I can add the last piece to my puzzle before I free the Xoom from its OEM bondage: theh MZ602 is also "stingray".

Well...moment of triumph is over. I'm off to rootify my stingray! Reason for starting here: No warranty, no worries. Plus, the process of rooting Android is fairly similar...it's the actual steps that need to be practiced before going to my 1 y.o. e-brain!
