Pretty straight forward question

I am getting cheap unlocked G3 of one of those 2 variants and i want to know which of those 2 has better development and prospects of more cm based or stock roms in future

Also do these support flashing international stock or cm roms on them

i dont particularly like the stock lg look so i will mostly use cm based roms

i am a very old android user but would be very happy if people would help me with suggestions with best baseband/boot loader and other tweaks and apps for this lg g3

thank you

Also i was using a note 4 before this
so how is the performance since note 4 has 805 and this has 801 snapdragon

Also i saw at&t has more bands which is a nice bonus

If you are ready to spend money on LG G3 then i would recommend you to buy only international variant D855. The reason is to buy that is simply you will get more custom roms and official updates as compared to other variants. For example you will only get official updates on D850 (Att variant) when you have an active att network on that device. Also there is still no official CyanogenMod13 (Marshmallow based) custom rom for D850. But for D855 there are more roms and update arrives much quicker than others.
But if you only have choice b/w att and t-mobile then i would advice you to go for T-mobile variant. It will get updates and also more custom roms are available for it (Off-course less than D855).
b:) Yes you can get more CM based roms on both variants and also both are good. There are many custom roms available for both of variants.

Go with Tmobile. I have the D850 (AT&T) unlocked on tmobile, and I wish I'd gone D855. The ATT model is PMA wireless charging, where the D855 is Qi. More people went with the Qi (international standard) so fewer roms are available for the ATT version (as mentioned above.)

Be sure to check out this website to confirm if the D855 will work on your network. For example, 4G would not work on Cricket with the D855 so I had to go with the D850.

I am second guessing myself now and think I might want to swap it out for a Zenfone 2, assuming it will get MM update soon. Gotta do some research....

both models are same except the lte bands. in my country, att works better because it has band3 1800mhz so lte works great here. Tmob missing it.
make sure which model has the band that works with your provider.
