huh?

His logic is that phones are allowed to have two notches, and there is an option for it as well. Of course it doesn't mean it will have it, hell it doesn't mean the new phone will even have one at all.

As for 3 notches, google already stated they arent allowed to have 3.
No, his logic was that the final build could have two notches, because P has support for it, which is highly unlikely to be the case. P does have the option for three different notch layouts (tall top, top & bottom and top left), so I was joking that the final build would therefore have all three because support is there

Hi,
I present you some pictures of the pixel 3 xl in white, taken by me. Unfortunately the phone does'nt boot because it was remotely erased by google.
If you like these leaks, hit thanks please.
I really hope this is the actual phone, I can save some money and buy OnePlus 6T which will have some thoughtful design...

Man that phone is ugly AF! I've been getting new Nexus/Pixel every year and I think this will be the first time I will pass. I don't understand why they would even bother with the crappy notch after seeing iPhone X sales weren't that great ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Was going to be my first Google phone since the Nexus 5.. After seeing those photos of how atrocious that thing is, I'm stuck with my Samsung for another cycle. Hopefully they keep the infinity display and no stupid notches. Worst trend in smartphones in like, ever. Ugh. So disappointed in Google. I so wanted this phone.

Assuming you mean functionality, actually the glass back would allow for wireless charging.

It may also allow new/different features with regards to the newly rumored 'pixel dock'.
That's really disappointing. I'd much rather it have a metal back like the Pixel 2 XL. I hate a glass back and I'm never going to use wireless charging anyways.

Might go for the smaller Pixel 3.
I would consider the smaller one if the battery isn't way too small but considering the battery was tiny on the smaller Pixel and Pixel 2 I'm not expecting much.

maybe so, but I'll admit, having a slight chin is helpful when it comes to holding the device and preventing accidental touches. Makes it much easier to one hand and at least they included a forward firing speaker there as well
Chin? Do you mean bottom bezel? I've never held a phone by the bottom bezel nor have I ever seen anyone else do that.

Yes I mean the bottom bezel. When holding the phone with one hand it stops the muscle in the palm of my hand (thumb muscle) from folding over on top of the screen

Yes, google definitely needs to keep the front facing stereo speakers...more manufacturer should do it..Just think they should just leave a slight bezel on the top as well and do away with the notch...what benefit is there really having that notch? If the argument is to minimise the bezel, maybe they need a notch around the bottom speakers too (they shouldn't, just saying)
Yeah I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the notch myself. Having a slight bezel and being symmetrical is would I'd like to see too....

I don't know, you might be on to something there. Pixel 3 = 3 notches? Just saying it makes sense. They made that rule so they can be the only one true tri-notch phone. (God I hope that never really happens...)

I've had a chance to see the Pixel 3 XL in person, and I can confirm that the blue tint and smearing issues from the 2 XL were resolved.

I do however highly recommend a case. The finish on the back is some kind of matte texture imprinted directly on the glass, and scratches like no other.

The OnePlus 6 has the best notch. It's slim and looks good but the one on the pixel 3 xl looks much bigger which makes the area for the notification large and weird looking.

I don't get the whole issue most have with bezels and notches... (granted, the notch here is a bit carried away, but) I will take a notch and bezel if it means I get stereo FF speakers all day long. Nothing worse than having to cup your hand to hear speakerphone, music, or hear a video's audio. My point is I'll take a little bit of visual "ugly" if it means a much more practical, functioning device. I actually dare say that I'd be lost without at least bezels on my phones.

not really sure what youre trying to say. the notch isnt necessary in order to have front facing speakers. case in point, pixel 2 xl, no notch, front facing speakers.

the notches' supposed purpose is more screen real-estate/slimmed bezels, while adding something functional to the notched area (IE facial recognition on iPhone X).

apparently the pixel 3 xl, doesnt have any of those things, other than possibly some slimmed down bezels on the side. it has an enormous notch, an enormous chin, and nothing leaked so far as too what is added to the notch to enhance the phone.

Okay, first of all, I HAVE to get this out: APPLE DID NOT CREATE THE NOTCH! The Essential phone was the first phone out with a notch. So, you COULD say that Essential created it. Stop saying Apple creates everything lol. God I'm so tired of hearing that. Just like how HTC copied the first metal iPhone with the One M7, even though the M7 came out SIX months earlier... Jesus wept.

Sorry, I just really had to say that.

Anyway, yes, the notch is WAY too big. I think barely enough to have a camera/s and the top front speaker would be fine. I would imagine they could make it smaller? The bottom chin too. It seems pretty big just for that speaker. Again, just enough to fit the speaker would be fine. Personally, I would much rather keep the dual front facing speakers and have a bit of a chin on the top and bottom, or just the bottom and a smaller notch. And the glass back? Come on... Maybe ceramic like the Essential phone (I'm not certain this would work for wireless charging or not though)? Something besides glass. My last ever (meaning will never buy again) Samsung phone was the s7 edge, and the glass back felt, well, kind of gross. The feeling of smeared fingerprints and dirt/whatever, no thanks. Not to mention now the 50% chance of breaking glass on the phone becomes 100% if dropped high enough or on hard enough floor. I hate cases, and I'd HAVE to have a case on the 3 XL with the glass back. I'm really not sure on this... I'm definitely going to wait to see what is actually offered. And maybe how it looks and feels in person. Less than two months away.

Apple didn't create the notch but they sure "popularized" it just like a lot of things. There's no denying that.

Maybe? Though the iPhone X apparently didn't do very well. It's possible that other OEM's saw the Essential OR the iPhone and copied it. Who knows. Let's just stop saying Google is copying Apple is all I'm saying. There are plenty of arguments going the other way too guys.

Didn't do "very well" according to expectations but I bet it sold more than all other notch phones combined. LOL

My main point is how everyone flips out about bezels and/or notches and I have no idea why. Personally, the notch is a bit big and maybe even unnecessary in this case, but let's chill out a bit. There is not a bezel-less/notch-less phone on the market that I would buy, and I personally think the Pixel 2 XL I have in my hand is the best phone I've ever owned and it has huge bezels (at least to hear others say so) that serves a purpose and I think make the phone look good. I just don't get the carrying on about every new phone's bezel size.
