My main point is how everyone flips out about bezels and/or notches and I have no idea why. Personally, the notch is a bit big and maybe even unnecessary in this case, but let's chill out a bit. There is not a bezel-less/notch-less phone on the market that I would buy, and I personally think the Pixel 2 XL I have in my hand is the best phone I've ever owned and it has huge bezels (at least to hear others say so) that serves a purpose and I think make the phone look good. I just don't get the carrying on about every new phone's bezel size.
Why chill out though?

It looks to be a terrible design, serving no (apparent yet) purpose.

For a flagship phone from a supposed leader in phones, its extremely disappointing to see.

Maybe? Though the iPhone X apparently didn't do very well. It's possible that other OEM's saw the Essential OR the iPhone and copied it. Who knows. Let's just stop saying Google is copying Apple is all I'm saying. There are plenty of arguments going the other way too guys.

Didn't do "very well" according to expectations but I bet it sold more than all other notch phones combined. LOL
Lol it was the # 1 selling phone...yea I think that's called "doing well". They shipped 16,000,000 just between January-march alone.

I'm still getting the Pixel 3/3XL. I just am. And I'm sure you will too. It's too clean of an experience to pass up.

That being said...

The notch is too big (don't care about notches but this one is huge)

I don't care about the chin because it houses the speaker

4GB is not enough ram to satisfy my nerd urges. Is it enough to run stock Android? Absolutely.

Battery is too small to satisfy my nerd urges. Is it enough to power stock Android on the SD 845 all day? Absolutely.

The bottom speaker (the one that activates for a call or text) better be "beefier" this time around though. My iPhone speaker could wake Helen Keller from a deep sleep. My pixel 2 xl speaker is so weak compared to it.

For one, I don't know the person that posted these from a hole in the wall... this could be all over nothing for all I know. Two, there's likely more time before they finalize the design--perhaps the notch will go away or change? Maybe there will be a very functional reason for it? We just don't know until they officially unveil.

It's good to voice your opinion about the notch if you don't like them so that perhaps the team designing the phone will make note.

But this thing where THE INSTANT a photo is release of any leaked phone with a bezel or notch (or both) and the entire world pretending like it's the start of WW3 is getting a little hard for me to take. Not trying to offend or single anyone out, I just think we need to pump the brakes.

Because its aesthetically unpleasing while serving no apparent purpose. No one since the Iphone x debuted "the notch" as far as I know has said wow I really like that , notches are pretty cool. People dislike them. However with the iphone x the notche served a purpose, aside from the notch the phone has no bezels...they needed somewhere to put all the front sensors, speakers and camera hence the notch. Not the case with the alleged 3xl there would be plenty of space for all of that without the notch so it just looks like copying Apple just to copy them.

And that is exactly what google is banking on, people that will buy the phone for the "software" experience regardless of how ****ty or infior the rest of the phone is. Just google again pushing mid range hardware at people for a top end price because "software"

Everyone's software has gotten better, even samsung..the gap is shrinking.

I'll be honest, if the rumours of a 6.7 inch display are true, I'll be ok with the ugly a$$ notch. Either way, I know I'll end up with the 3XL....I always friggen do...ugh
Unless that guy has hands the size on andre the giant aint no way that phone in the video has a 6.7 inch screen.

The P3XL will have some things I don't care for or see as ideal. Those have been mentioned a million times. I'll be getting it because in my opinion the benefits will outweigh the shortcomings. Some won't agree and that's ok. I'm also skeptical of the report of a 6.7 inch display. Less notch, more ram and battery would be good but that would result in the perfect phone which I realized quite a while ago isn't happening. I'm looking forward to unloading my S9+ and getting back to a Pixel.

ALLEGED being the key word here. This "prototype" might not even be a Google phone, may go through many iterations before it's announced. We just don't know. Let's not say the sky is falling just yet.

This prototype matches to the other leaks with the release Google logo on them perfectly, it's pretty much guaranteed to be the real thing

I'm sorry, but no. And not trying to be rude. The Samsung experience is no where near as clean as the Pixel experience. Like many on this site (maybe even you) I've owned many of the flagships. I was so shocked at how CLUTTERED and JANKY my brand new S9+ was compared to my OG Pixel XL that I returned it within a week. And I had every intention of keeping it. Paid full price for the thing. Case, tempered glass protector, wireless charger. No where near the fluidity that the Pixel provides.

Good grief.

Might be fair to say that a lot of Pixel buyers are those that dislike anything Apple related, and a notch that bad.. yeah, I don't see the Pixel 3 selling anywhere near as well as the Pixel 2, bad OLED screen 'n all.

That being said, can't wait for the upcoming OnePlus 6T.

Although I wasn't going to get the Pixel 3, it's disappointing to see Google bring in the notch. Google has been trending towards copying off Apple for a little bit now. They're supposed to be the innovators.

Any kind of leak we get about phones these days are usually legit. That's why the "official" announcement of the phones aren't really that exciting. We already know everything about it before it gets announced.

I use a Note 8 and Pixel 2 XL and both have their pros and cons. In my opinion, Samsung offers better hardware, hands down, especially the screen. Samsung's bloated experience out of the box can be overwhelming but once the junk is disabled, and you replace some Samsung apps with Google counterparts, the phone runs incredibly smooth. The added options for always on display, themes, and various other tweaks are a nice bonus. As for the Pixel 2 XL, the interface is clean and fluid, requiring little tweaking. Most third party apps "just work" where sometimes Samsung has compatibility issues. The stereo speakers are incredible and judging by the Pixel 3 XL leaks, the 2 XL might actually be better looking. Google is going in many directions with their software and I have a feeling Android 10 is going to bring the full "material 2.0" redesign. Pie feels half baked, pun intended and I'm not sure it's an improvement on the Pixel 2 XL.

The Note 9 seems to be the best choice right now. Great screen, huge battery, stereo speakers, tons of RAM. If one debloats and loads some Google apps, it'll easily be the fastest phone out there. Project Treble could hold some interesting development possibilities.

Will put my experience here.

I was always pure Android user, since Nexus 4. I tried 3 different Pixels 2 XLs and all of them delivers me poor quality in display, speakers and not so awesome camera as a bunch of YouTube reviewers made us believe. I kept my note 8 while trying all these Pixels. Now I'm on S9+ after switching on Samsung store using my past note 8. Pixel 2 XL looks like a cheaper phone. Google is trailing a wrong path IMHO. Pixel 3 XL is ugly. Wtf is that notch? It's so deep in screen that Google could use a two lines status bar. Will be terrible hide it via software. Top will not match bottom in size.

Just to finalize. Samsung experience is a tiny slower than pure Android but wins in usage and functionality. Samsung is reaching a point of fluidity and features never seeing before. I'll switch my S9+ for a Note 9 for sure. I can't stand notch.

I agree about Pie. I never tried any of the DPs, the release version is my first taste of Pie. So far, I am not that impressed, and there are some things I prefer about Oreo.

I wish Samsung would offer another GPE phone. If I could get a truly bloat-free Samsung phone, I'd be on that like white on rice. But I still have a bad taste in my mouth after my Galaxy S6, and any new Samsung device would have to blow me away before I'd even consider buying it.

I guess I hadn't been paying attention and didn't realize the Note 9 had stereo speakers, interesting, but it's even heavier than the 8 and that's a heavy phone as it is. A trebelized note is a very interesting scenario though.
