Still using with no intentions of turning it in until maybe the S8 launch.

If the screen size was 5.7 or larger instead of 5.5, I could be tempted. The Mate 9 Pro is the same phone for those with less money to burn.
For me personally i will keep at it, trying to get it up and running again has now turned into a little personal project for me lol. Sooner or later there will likely be a workaround....there always isSooner or later the carrier themselves will deactivate they have the imei etc so its only a matter of time and the N7 will be useless to own.
It looks as if some of the rumors about the S8 are true, no home button and fingerprint sensor nowhere to be seen on front or back! Iris scanner makes another appearance. Very minimal top and bottom chin. For me personally i will keep at it, trying to get it up and running again has now turned into a little personal project for me lol. When the S8 drops, and If i like it I will consider swapping the note only then for one of those.
I do miss the Spen on the S7 edge but its an okay device to use until april when the S8 drops

It's right here on XDA. Try the TMobile section.I hope I'm not too late, but I was hoping to be able to dodge them bricking my phone as well. Currently, I have turned off my wifi to prevent the new update from downloading. However, I am still stuck with only being able to charge my phone to 60%. Could you please forward me to the process that you implemented in order to revert your phone. That would be really helpful.
I agree. It's been very quiet in terms of nastiness coming from them in well over a month now. I think they've reached the point where it's diminishing returns trying to get the last few % back.Actually I think they might give it a rest now. They have retrieved enough phones to cover themselves.

Which gives me somewhat of a dilemma. Do I keep my N7 forever, knowing i can never update it and not being able to use GearVR? Or do I return it at some point, and if I do, will I be able to get my money back. I guess if I cannot get my money back, then it makes the decision for me, so I cannot really lose.
And the fact remains, there is still no phone out - or even announced - that gives me all the features I love about the N7.
I doubt very much if there will ever come a time when you cannot get your money back. Apple is still exchanging their Nano 1st gen that was recalled many years ago for the current one, year after year.I agree. Yes I did.Having said it's been very quiet, I received 2 calls from Samsung yesterday, although I wasn't quick enough to get to the phone and they left no message. I'd have like to talk to them since I would have been interested in what they had to say. Has any other Note7 owner in the UK had a call from Samsung recently?
You can return any faulty product within one year of pucharse date as per consumer act UK lawI doubt very much if there will ever come a time when you cannot get your money back. Apple is still exchanging their Nano 1st gen that was recalled many years ago for the current one, year after year.
Interesting. They called me again this morning and said would I confirm a few security details, to which I replied "no, because you could be anybody". The guy just said "Ok, thanks very much, goodbye".Yes I did.
They called me over 10 times on different hours in this and last week and it looked like they will not let me go so I answered some withield number and some lady with Manchester accent said that she is calling from Samsung Department on behalf of Carphone Warehouse. She did know my name and all details and she want to verify that I still have Note 7. I said that It is no longer a case as it has been stolen/lost and she asked if I can provide any CRN (crime reference number) from UK Police Station and I said that apparently stolen mobiles like stolen bicycles are decriminalised as not crime anymore so such a numbers are no longer provided. She said what about my mobile insurance. I said I had it only for first N7 and when I exhanged it for recalled second one with green battery I forgot to update IMEI with them and 30 days was gone when I realized and they were no longer interested in providing any insurance. She replied that she will update my records that I do not have it anymore and I shall expect no more calls from anyone asking about it.

If I do end up speaking to them, I am not going to be even slightly defensive mind you. I will say "so are you going to offer me a discounted S8 if I return my Note7? And if not, what other incentives are you offering?". I am not committing any crime by keeping it, so if they REALLY want it back, then the ball is in their court.
By the way, I know you are trying to be helpful, but you are not entirely correct about consumer rights. The whole area is pretty complicated with various changes in legislation over the past 15 years. But in short, your rights (still) extend for 6 years (not 1 year) but you have no automatic right to return something within 1 year. Within 6 months, it's more straightforward but after 6 months, it gets complicated, and even MORE complicated in the case of a mobile phone where there are multiple parties involved - the manufacturer, the network provider, the retailer and the customer.
There is a legal requirement for the seller to provide goods that are of satisfactory quality at the time they were sold, and after 6 months it's down to the customer to demonstrate that they were not. If you can show that, and/or the seller accepts the case, then you are entitled to a repair or compensation, not to a full refund.
And there is no automatic right to a warranty of any kind. Manufacturers don't even have to offer one.
To be fair, I think most warranties are pretty good. The law doesn't require manufacturers to offer one, but it does require that if they do offer one, the terms of it must be clear and easy to understand and they MUST honour it. I've never had a problem getting something repaired or replaced under warranty to be honest.Ok,
I understand, thanks for correcting me.
What I learned is that product warranties in most of cases are a bit of illusion and they do exist only on paper and give you feeling that you have something just in case but when case came to daylight you are left with nothing.
Because of that I do not buy goods with warranty and when something break down I usually repair it myself.
If I cannot repair it I buy another one and return it after one week but withdeletedinside.
They look at it they check it and always accept it. So I know whatever I buy they will take it back anyway.
