Samsung Galaxy S23
Looking at upgrading from my Pixel 5 to the S23. I was considering the Pixel 7 at first, but that was honestly a bit too big of a phone for me. The S23 is almost identical in size to the Pixel 5, which is the absolute sweet spot for me, as it allows full one-handed operation.
Now that the first battery life reports have started rolling in, the S23 seems more and more attractive.

Hi,
To make a backup using the Smart Switch to an external HDD, it has to be formated in FAT32; If the hdd is NTFS, won't be recognised, right?

Thanks

Planning to upgrade from S10e to S23.

@afaneh92 showing that the bootloader can be unlocked, TWRP installed, and thus the phone fully rooted is an essential per-requisite for me (wasn't possible on US versions of S22 w/ Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 )

EDIT: I PM'd @afaneh92 because maybe I'm misunderstanding this point... possibly the U/U1 variants once again do NOT allow bootloader to be unlocked?! Obviously a dealbreaker.

Reason(s):
+ camera(s) are much improved
+ 5G connectivity
+ wifi 6e
+ Up-to-date Security (once I unlocked my S10e, I quit doing any updates, so I'm rocking " Android security patch level Feb 1, 2021 " )

- losing external microSD storage :-(

5G is overrated IMO. But yea, I also had a S10e in the past, and even if the S23 is still bigger than it. Doesn't feel the same. S10e shape was more comfortable in hands (without any case, S23 edges are sharp).

Real reasons I see to go from S10e to S23 is uptodate security indeed (even if with S10e you can install custom rom as you mentioned), better camera (if it's really needed and you can use the difference), and powerful CPU/GPU.
The best reason is a better battery longevity (S10e battery kind of sucked).

I'm upgrading from Pixel7 to S23
Was the upgrade worth it?

I've only had the P7 for a few months now . I like the camera a lot but would like a lighter device.

S23 is lighter and smaller. Even though the 6'3 screen size of P7 is not bad.

How do they compare in terms of camera quality and battery life?

Pixel has a slightly better camera. S23 has great size, battery life and fingerprint. It's definitely worth going for the S23.

hmmmm. very tempted to get the S23 - but the P7 has been a very good device so far also. And I got a really good trade-in value for the P7...

I now wonder if Samsung will keep the same size for the S24 and maybe I should be patient and wait for that one to come out next year....

I switched to s23 from vivo x70 pro. I did not get ultra or pro models because I didn't want to carry bulky handset and want to keep this for some years. Am not a gamers but wanted a great camera with good processor. Battery is just...good. very satisfied after 2 months.

I have the Ultra and my girlfriend the Plus.

Honestly, the Plus seems to be an excellent balance between the standard and the Ultra.

    S10e to S23.
The S10e update cycle is ended and battery life is not great anymore.

I took the leap to upgrade despite the trashy trade-in amount, because my used S22 with paint-peel on bezels and micro-scratches on screen isn't going to fetch a good buyback price via third party vendors, and may be even lesser than what Samsung offer.

I hope S23's battery performance will be good enough for me to hold 3-4 years.

Edit: Got my sanity back, cancelled my pre-order, decided to save S$585 to spend it elsewhere.
