Damn okay, I didn't know that, I thought I would have been fine as long as it was a SM-F936B.

Well I was really hoping for you guys too. Thank you for updating the community, I will update the list I made to reflect the reality of the situation.

In the next day or two (if it's not against XDA rules) I'll try start an exploit bounty thread to try to get as many people interested in working on this as possible. You can put up as much money as you like and it will be a transparent and honor based system (public google spreadsheet with emails and how much money you want to put up and whatever phone information is needed i.e. bootloader version, model number, etc). If someone more impatient then I am wants to start and manage this right now go for it.

I just want to root my device. It really shouldn't be this hard but I'm determined to try to make it happen.

Oh - and for all who doubt it - a SM-936B doesn't mean Global model - Samsung just means that hardware-wise it's the same globally.

But a UK SM-936B will differ from an EU SM-936B and any others - that's why the mess-up there.

In this rooting effect - really the only safe haven that I'm aware of is EU - but the phone you buy must be a legit official EU model, not a grey import...
You may not know this but I'll ask anyway in case you do, or someone else does - If the hardware is the same, how does it know that it is a UK one and to not allow the bootloader to be unlocked?
I am able to flash THIS firmware, which I would have guessed is the same that you used to patch for root, would that not mean that the software is also the same? My knowledge is limited and so I may be way off the mark here, but I'm not sure how it knows.

I was very hopeful....I am still in denial, but it is looking like I won't be able to root this :(

Never give up, just because sammy doesn't want to give you the root doesn't mean you can't take it. It will probably cost money to make the bounty but the more money we can generate the more people will want to find something to collect said bounty.

Nothing is unhackable.

This. We just need an exploit. It's bound to happen, I'll wait. And for now I'll run a proot container instead!

I got my samsung Fold 4 today :)
I wanna root it, freeze some system-apps.
Install Magisk, Zygisk, some modules.
Can anybody explain the steps? Or point me in the right direction?
I was used to use TWRP, flash custom rom, flash magisk, done...

Reading this thread doesn't make the steps clear for me.
Please step-by-step (i know the basics).

EDIT:
I'll edit this post and make it easier for others if possible and will make a new post with the needed links.

Just because it has the same basic model number - definitely doesn't mean same HW and SW - that's why Samsung codes additional info into the full phone ID numbers - that differs by country of origin etc.

I've seen guides somewhere explaining how to decipher it... It can be found somewhere...

Same as always:

- Developer mode
- OEM unlock
- Finish OEM unlock in Download mode
- Patch AP in Magisk
- Flash patched AP with Odin

The phone is rooted.

If you need more detailed steps, the guide for rooting a Fold 3 can be followed - Fold 3 root guide

Ah okay, in case it's useful to anyone else looking to buy and root, my full model number is SM-F936BZKBEUB (currently not able to unlock the bootloader).

So what is YOUR exact model number, so folks can search and hopefully find a retailer with the exact rootable B version? I am confused as to whether I would need a B version from the EU or one from UK?

So as someone who wanted a fold 3 at launch and didn't buy it because of that whole disabled cameras thing (i know they have since changed the policy on that phone). I am hoping I can buy this one as a US model and be able to root.

But it got me wondering, for such a tech savvy phone, how many people root folds? And how important is it to you?
I havent rooted a samsung phone for a decade... I have never jailbroke an iphone. I no longer see the point in root a phone.
(I do unlock bootloader on Xiaomi CN ROM phones and flash the EU Rom... but those ROMs are not rooted by default).

Hard pass here. I was rooted for years on every phone up until about 5 or 6 years ago. I only stopped because I jumped over to LG when the V20 came out and started making themes for LG (rip) and thought that I should try to stay stock to ensure I would have the same experience as everyone else given I was putting the themes on Google play. I got used to it and didn't miss it because given LG had and still does have the most advanced theme system of any device with zero restrictions on what you can touch, I could simply add any mod to my theme and keep it stock. Keep in mind rooting was much simpler then and magisk was not yet a thing.
Fast forward to 8 months ago I decided to root my pixel 6 pro and tinkered and honestly the fun just wasn't there for me anymore. Having to mess around constantly because of monthly updates or randomly losing root via magisk for no reason and having to mess with stuff to pass safety net or show official status on Google play became a nuisance for me. I guess I'm just over it now and couldn't be bothered. But I totally get why some may still want to and I'm all for it

And I've got root friends! Everything is fine, all works.

I think I might be the first — in da world! :O)

Yeah — that's OK, but it's there - it must be in Europe. Then you toggle it on, reboot to Download mode and it'll give you an option there to confirm bootloader unlock. In fact - could you do it?

Just toggle it on, reboot to Download - select fully unlock bootloader - and if there's the tricks from Samsung it'll say “Your camera is going to be disabled - please confirm…” You don't have to do it if you then don't want to , and nothitg'll happen - it'll just reboot.

At least you'd give me a piece of mind for one night - if it's there or not… :O)
