First impressions are good. Fit and finish are about what I expected. I haven't worn a watch in years so it feels strange, but I think that will pass. It is certainly bigger than a normal watch -maybe right at the edge of too big, but I'm sticking with it. I tried on a 360 and a couple of Samsungs at BB but like the size/look of this better.
Additionally, I have 51 year old eyes that are just on the edge of needing glasses for reading. I have a HTC One Max and will be getting a Nexus 6 in an effort to delay the inevitable, but this may take me over the edge.
I haven't played much with any android wear watches before so its still a bit of a learning curve to figure out what swipes do what. There appears to be a wear update coming soon that will address some of the things I've found frustration with like getting to a notification without dismissing all of the notifications above it and some magnification and color palette options.
Answers to other questions above:
- The heart rate monitor is done by touching the sides of the face with two fingers. Seems to take about 10 seconds. I haven't double checked accuracy.
- Steps seem to be tracked by the watch. I left my phone on the desk and walked away -including out of range- and the incremented.
- I didn't see any issues with connecting to my car bluetooth, but have found that the PLT Hub app crashes every time my Plantronics legend headset connects/disconnects.
- I've not been able to successfully use it for navigation yet. Although it tries to open -and simultaneously opens google nav on phone- it seems to lock up on the phone and never shows progress. After trying earlier this morning in the car. I couldn't get ANY GPS. Tried turning GPS off/on, but that didn't help. I ended up restarting the phone and GPS came back but I didn't try to use the watch.
Wishes:
-More control of the length of the vibrate notification.
-A configurable audible notification -just a simple beep if I'm not wearing it.
All-in-all, I'm happy with it.... And BB tells me they will be refunding the $29 overcharge.
