Why did you choose the Pixel 4 over the Pixel 4 XL?

Size.
I mean you can get used to an 6,3" phone easily after a time but at the end of the day it's still way more comfortable with an smaller phone.

Size, same reason I choose the Pixel 2 back then.

Battery wise I'm able to get through a day with my daily use with all features on. I'm often on Wi-fi so that helps from time to time

I just ordered one. Have a s10+ right now that I love but it's just too big. I wanna try a pixel again too. Had a p1xl, p2xl but skipped the p3

I previously had a 3 XL and a 2 XL, before that. Personally, I found those phones just slightly too big to ever use comfortably with one hand. My wife had a Pixel 3 and I always found her phone to be a more perfect size for one handed use. So this time around I ordered two Pixel 4's (one for myself and one for the wife). After just over a week I can gladly say that I have no regrets going with the 4 (non-XL). It's the perfect size to me.

Oh, and the 4 fits the wireless charger in my car, while the 3 XL was too tall to fit. So that's another added bonus.

Size. I have had all big phones previously. Nexus 6, pixel 1 xl, pixel 2 xl, note 9, 6T, s10+ and now pixel 4.

It is so nice with a smaller phone now. And battery is just a little bit worse than my s10+. I get through a whole day

I chose the Pixel 4 because it fits into a lot of my active wear. Seriously. I like to take my phone with me when I'm out on trails and it fits into more pockets than the large XL. The one-handed usability is also key. Coming from the Pixel 2, the 5.7" screen was a massive update too so it feels like I got a bigger phone but without the bulk (even though it is a little heavier than the Pixel 2 but it's worth all the extra features.).

I got the pixel 4 b/c I actually dont like large phones. Everyone wants the biggest phone and I had the old schoo, Nexus 6 back in the day and it was too large and too heavy. In fact, I am not happy that the pixel 4 is heavier than the 3 and slightly larger, but it is the best "smaller" phone out right now.

I wanted also the XL version but I ordered the regular size. I have small hands :) My pockets too!

I was thinking that if I'll have a big-screen phone why not just get a tablet version. So soon, I'll get one. In the meantime, I'll have the Pixel 4.

Inxs:
I've come from the generation where I witnessed the smallest mobile phones were the most expensive ones --- Nokia days. It's not quite a bit bizarre that the bigger phones are now preferred. Before portability is the advantage but now, functionality and features are the prime reason for a phone choice, and the advantages are given to the bigger versions.

After having used the Nexus 6 for almost 4 years I wanted a smaller phone but definitely a Google phone. I first thought about the Pixel 3a but then realized how much better the Pixel 4 is in terms of hardware so I choose that, can't be happier!

Size and weight. Wish it was a bit thinner on edges (coming from OnePlus 5, the device feels noticeable heavier and thicker, different weight distribution).

Hopefully more manufacturers think about people who really want compact phones!

Unfortunately the battery life is not that good.. nobody can beat apple in terms of battery performance / mAh

I have a somewhat different take - currently a P2 user. Almost got the XL, but initial screen issues scared me off. Size difference wasn't a factor. Always rooted prior phones and was really looking forward to installing custom ROMs. The last two years have been a real disappointment in that regard. Sure, there has been consistent custom kernel support, but very little initial, and now next to zero ROM support - especially compared to the XL model. I'm holding on to the P2 until this time next year and will be choosing between the P5 and OnePlus offerings (8T/9). I'll be keeping track of the support you all get here for ROM development, but I already see more interest in the XL version of the P4 - hope you get more action than the P2 got!
