Why does it appear there is little to no development for the 12.2?

We have had root since day 1 and TWRP for about a month I think. We finally got backup and restore to the external SD working in TWRP. Just curious why there is not even a modified stock rom available yet? Is it just that our device has a small user base or am I just expecting too much?

I purchased my 12.2 on Feb 25. I purchased my HTC M8 on Mar 25th and we already have S-Off (Security Off in HTC speak) TWRP, CWM and at least 5 stock based rom's and a few custom rom's.

Not expecting a glut of rom's for the Note Pro 12.2 but I thought there might be one by now in dev. What do you folks think?

You said what I've been itching to say, but I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.....or tick them off. I guess all in due time?!?!

Yes, I'm certainly not pressuring anyone. I just wonder if the user base is so small a lot of dev's just don't have them to develop on.

If it sounded like I was looking for an estimate, I apologize. Not my intent. Just wanted to get everyone's view.

My first guess is that the price point puts this device off the radar for most devs.

My second guess is that given that the desire of the user base is going to focus on retaining S-Pen support the level of interest in AOSP based ROMs would be less than on other devices as well.

You're right though, there would certainly be interest in stock based ROMs like one sees for the other Note devices.

I would think that if a group of users got together and purchased a note pro for a developer that agreed to develop for it then we'd see some movement from said dev. I've seen this happen before on another device platform (I think it was the HTC One X very early on . . ). I'm not suggesting this BTW, since right now I'm taking things slow and just planning on running Xposed modules to get what I need.

A slim ROM would be great though.

I would say it is definitely the price point combined with KNOX keeping the development slow on this platform. I would guess as the price comes down and used tablets start showing up that things will heat up. Mainly because from everything I read there is a fairly high desire for the Note 12.2.

Glad you posted though Mike02z - I hadn't heard that the save to external SD was fixed in TWRP. Good news - I think I'll order mine now.

The 10.1 2014 faced a similar problem. Only after half a year there seems to be a few roms and kernels. I think with time people care less about a tripped knox. When the device is brandnew some might be reluctant to void the warranty right away or at least make a return problematic. To be honest I don't expect any roms in the next 3 months, I'm happy if something comes around.

Thing is, as soon as you CF Auto Root you trip the KNOX counter. No way I know of to avoid that on the Note 12.2. I bought a Square Trade warranty for 40% off so I would just send it to them if anything went wrong with the hardware. They don't care at all about being rooted or "tampered". I know, I had to send in an older 7" Galaxy Tab and they did not ask any questions.

Yes, I worked with bigbiff from the TWRP team for a couple weeks and he was finally able to solve the issue with restoring from EXT SD. He had the writing to EXT SD fixed a while ago but restore would keep rebooting into TWRP. He just fixed that a few days ago. He was great to work with.

Not ready to throw money down to buy a dev a Note Pro...I put in quite a bit on another tablet and the dev essentially took the money and ran. I'm always willing to put in a few bucks (or more) on a good ROM, though.

It seems like this is a fairly popular tablet. I imagine things will pick up soon. It took a while for things to really heat up on the A700....Over two years, really, before there were more than one or two options.
