Why I AM getting the Pixel 2 XL (coming from a 6P)

Getting a Pixel 2 XL and moving on from the Nexus 6P. The 2 year old phone looks good, but has had some issues. Most notable of this was a battery shutdown at 20%, which only went away after I replaced the old battery. The new one goes down to zero, and could have lasted me another year, but there are also some other annoyances, like a random reboot once in a while, overheating Snapdragon 810, some call quality issues, etc., that I was tired if having to deal with. What sold me was the return of the front firing stereo speakers, IP67 rating, and OIS. Price is such worthy, but having financing over 24 months lessens the blow. Compared to the OG Pixel XL, this is a nearly no compromise required upgrade over the 6P.

Finally officially moving on from the 6P. I passed on the first pixels (not worth upgrading to), tried the 8+ and Note 8 both great phones but (both great phones but my love for the speed of stock android is greater). The OP 5's been holding me down so far. Great little phone minus the camera. 2 XL is basically the 6P + waterproof and im here for it.

I too received a brand new 128GB PXL as replacement for the 6P. I had been waiting all year long for the P2XL previously but now I'm having a hard time justifying spending $605 ($949.00-$410 + tax) for a slightly faster phone with a nicer screen. The improved camera and returning back to stereo speakers is nice but I don't care about the waterproofing. Plus PXL already has BT 5.0 . I think I'm waiting until P3XL next year unless somebody can get me a compelling reason to jump now. Yeah, I'll be paying more next year, but the difference difference between the PXL and the P3XL will feel like going from 6P to P2XL.

I have been on the 6P for a while now. Pretty much since it was out. Solid phone. Absolutely love it. As with any phone, I've started to see battery life suffer here recently. Something that seems to be progressively worse. Being a power user like I am, I figured it was time to look into upgrading. The Pixel 2 XL, to me, seems almost like a mirror of the 6P but with upgraded specs and hardware. Seeing as how my Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P have done me so well, the Pixel 2 XL seemed like the next logical choice. Got approved for Google financing so the idea of making 0APR payments on it for a little while was enticing too.

I've had the Nexus 6p about 1 year and 9 months. Just change out the dieing battery. The 6p is running like a top now. My son is still using my old HTC one max. He is ready for a new phone. I asked him if he wanted my 6p and he yes. So I'm basically killing 2 birds with one stone. I get the Pixel 2 XL and he get my mint condition 6p.

On the day the XL 2 was announced I received a text from my carrier to say I was due my upgrade from my two year old 6p. It was a no brainer for me, I pre-ordered straight away. I'm a Nexus guy, I've had all the Nexus phones and while it wasn't feasible to upgrade to the original XL, it's time for my upgrade. It probably would have been a different story if there was no dual front facing speakers because I love that on my 6p, but this seems as if it's going to be a worthy upgrade.

I loved my 6P and was planning on keeping it until it died. And it did. My phone caught the shutdown problems and now has gotten so bad it will cut off at 60% battery. It's sad that it was the first phone I didn't want to get rid of. Wasn't able to get the replacement because all of the greedy people with 'problematic' nexus 6p's that were fine.

I was debating moving away from Google after this but I still like their brand even though I've been burned and I figure I'll just double down instead. Just ordered a Pixel 2 XL 128GB -- with insurance to not have to worry about the phone being a dud like the 6P.

Also I'm on project Fi which I love so it was either leave that or get the moto which looks horrid.

Let's hope it works out.

I must be one of the very few who bought 6P at release and had no issues whatsoever. Accubattery still show 91% health. But with all the new features on the 2 XL, and the 0% financing through ProjrctFI and since this month is my last 6P payment I couldn't resist ordering the phone which should ship tomorrow. (Hopping the 2 XL will be as good as my 6P)

Got my 6P replaced with the Pixel XL, 2 weeks a go and I'm trading it with with the 2 XL 128G black. The XL is a phenomenal device but I want to get on board with smaller bezel and larger screen, then stock Android and faster updates, unlock bootloader for customization, aptX-HD with viper4android off course to drive my ATH-DSR9BT. Faster CPU, larger batt, oh boy, I can go on. But you get the idea!.

And don't forget those most important front firing Speakers ? ?!
