Why I Chose The Xperia Z and not HTC One

Xperia Z is going to be a pain to charge. Unless you are getting 2 docks (1 for office, other for home). Otherwise the rubber plug will just break off. Nokia E71 users will remember.

HTC One bootloader unlocking process looks complicated.

Samsung S4, based on S2 and S3 threads, the future for third party ROM does not look bright.

Decisions, Decisions. #firstworldproblem.

The plugs are covered by the 2 year warranty, why do people make this a problem? - if they brake send it in for repair, it takes 3-7 days.

in the U.S the XZ is very rare and to have it in water amazed people even more! I rather have a phone that no one has then have a phone that everyone have. makes it stand out.

I'm a Singaporean too, when the HTC One was just released, I visited SingTel Plaza Sing too. But unlike you, the HTC One's salesman was there, while the Z's was not. He made it a point to point out the ultra pixel camera and the IR blaster.

In terms of build, the One definitely appeals to me with the silver aluminium. Owning a Nexus 4, glass backs scare me to no end. I do like the Z's design though.

I had actually considered the Z before getting the Nexus 4 but it was out of my budget, might be getting the ZL when second hand ones pop up.

Thanks for the review tho!

Ironically, I've managed to get my hands on a HTC One! :D

It would be really sad to leave the Xperia Z aside for a while but I'm gonna do that and use the One as my main device for a week or so. After I've fully experienced the phone, I'll post another review over on the HTC One forum. There will be many comparisons to the Xperia Z, so be sure to check that out after it has been posted! ;)

The Xperia Z will still be used as my media consumption device but the HTC One will be my main worker. After that I'll decide which will be with me as my main phone and which will probably be used as media consumption purposes.

On a side note, the Samsung Galaxy S4 really disappointed me. I thought there'd be something different and amazing. Now its more like a Galaxy S3S. Samsung being more like Apple now? :(

Lucky you, both are great devices :).

Hahaha! I think so too! Nothing beats standing out from the mainstream crowd! :D

Happy to see a fellow Singaporean here! :D

I agree that the One has a rather beautiful design but damn! The Xperia Z looks just as fine! In terms of feel in hand, the One wins though. Nothing beats the feel of cool aluminium in your hands :p

The ZL is a fine device! I'm sure you won't regret it!
