Why might nandroid backups have wrong dates on them?

Example: did a nandroid backup about 45 minutes ago (1:30ish am central) and when I mount as a disk drive and look at the file, it says it was last modified at 5:30 AM central which is a few hours from now. I usually transfer nandroids from the phone to the PC for safekeeping but this issue has caused me an issue with not being sure which nandroid is at a particular point in time, which is important.

Just remember that they are 4 hours ahead...problem solved.

Timestamps shouldn't matter...if you make a backup before you make changes, then you are obviously concerned about the changes you are making and want to have something to roll back to. If you always pick the most recent backup, you are always going back to whatever you had before you changed it...get it?

As far as I know, the timestamps are set to GMT -01:00 rather than your local time. Why? I have no friggin' clue, but that's just how it is. Maybe it's because the creator of Nandroid lives in the GMT -01:00 time-zone?

Point is, that's just how it is, so we all have to live with it.

not so simple. went ahead and did another one and it jumped ahead 6 hours, confirming what I thought that there was no firm way to know.

The reason this is an issue is because I made backups when 1) i used the starting over method, 2) flashed a new rom, 3) flashed a new kernel, etc etc. Its made it hard to keep track of.
