Why the hate for Bixby?

I own an echo, 2 Ghomes and a V20 with Google assistant, and I think there is major room for improvement on both systems. I'm pretty excited to try a new Ai.

The hate is probably due to Samsung preventing re-mapping of the button to something else and Bixby not being ready for prime time. I believe people like choices and the option to change whatever they want since its their phone.

It's the fact that we're forced to use it. Sure it can probably be disabled, but there's a physical hardware button dedicated to it. If you don't like it, that button is a total waste of space that could server a relevant purpose.

Because we all know it's going to suck and be useless.
I dunno, Samsung has a ton of in home devices they could add Bixby to. I don't really see they having too much difficulty doing what google does, read apps or the first link from a web search.

Native smartthings support and Samsung SmartTVs. If they decide to release a Chromecast/FireTV streaming box. I think they will be late to the game, but have way more in home penetration.

I've always went in with a don't diss it till you try it attitude and I will do the same for Bixby.

I'm willing to try it, mainly since there's a physical button dedicated to it. However, like with all of these virtual assistants, I feel rather lukewarm about them all. Never really had a desire to try them, so kinda have to push myself to try Bixby.

Am I the only person who dosent use Google assistant? What does it do that's so special I have never used it on any of my phones
Nope. I've never used it either. I get why people like it, but... like you, it never seemed special, so I just never tried it.

I use it for controlling my Smartlights, my news briefing in the morning, long google searches and sending texts while i'm driving (It will read and reply to text/hangouts in Android auto)

They hate it because Samsung put a dedicated button for people to use something they sunk a ton of money into, the hate really doesn't make sense. Competition is good and should be encouraged, we should be happy there are so many companies developing assistants for us to use even if some of us don't see their point.

Personally, I don't use Google Assistant or anything else. I don't see the point of talking to my phone when I have perfectly working fingers on my hands (I also don't drive.), but just because I don't use them doesn't mean I have to hate them.

That said, removing the ability to remap the button using an accessibility service was a **** move.

I would love to remap the stupid bixby button to a camera shutter function. And I dont mean launch the camera when pressed, I want the phone to take a picture when its pressed even if the screen is off. That would be an amazing rooted mod.

Yeah, that's what I want... A bunch of pictures of the inside of my pocket every time I accidentally hit that button. (That was sarcasm)

No thanks. I would hate that feature.

Honestly I prefer the on screen shutter button. I've tried settings the volume buttons to take a picture but I always find it more stable to use the on screen buttons because it doesn't involve me pushing the phone.

Havent use it so cant say if it sucks or not. But i do believe it will be more integrated then google. Its has translate and online image search built into the camera. Which is a good thing, i normally have to switch to the apps for these.

So ill have to see how it all goes and what it is like because i can knock it or not.
Same goes for the swipe up app screen (i know you can turn if off but ill try it for a while and see)
